well if you think about it, water is one of the most powerful forces on Earth.
It isnt the height, its the momentum of such an event....
These waves had been going for hundreds of miles...which was just building up the force higher and higher......
I'd argue that genetics is the most powerful force on Earth.

Well yeah, and this is why I'm not really critical of the tourists that somply stood there gawking. The waves don't look all that dangerous. It's what's behind them that is dangerous -- zillions of tons of 60-MPH water.
The force alone would be like a brick wall and...it is carrying sand and whatever else from the ocean floor. Can only imagine the damage it can do when it hits a human cause we sure saw on some of those videos how quickly it hit buildings and filled them with water. God help this woman as she saw it coming. She must have been overwhelmed with fear for her family. Wow. Very, very, very heartbreaking.
Quite right! Sir SuziQ described it more as a 'pulse' of water than an wave. It is a solid wall of water, spread out over a long area, that's been going for miles at over 300 mph, followed by several more 'pulses', each higher than the previous one.
