Asian Tsunami Relief donations. (Vanity thread list)

Ok,
No_Outcome_But_Victory brought up a good point on an earlier thread. Lets set up a list of some charity organizations that are sending relief to the victums of the Christmas earthquake.

I have a few here. Of course the Red Cross

www.redcross.org

This is the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod page for emergency relief. I think that they are updating as more gets organized.

http://www.lcms.org/pages/internal.asp?NavID=1872

I know that there are many others.

Salvation mentioned a Father Emerito that does mission activities in the area, but I don't have a good link for him

If anyone knows of a place to donate money, food, or any other supplies, please post on the thread.

Father Emerito is a priest in Goa, India. I will try to find out a link for him when I call the priest from Sri Lanka I mentioned above.

I don't consider myself a bigot, but I'm taking my money and buying things for our Troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.

If you want to hear some American's that are in need and appreciate what is being done for them go to www.anysoldier.com Read a few of the things our Troops are doing and the items they need to fight the war on terror and protect our freedom!

$6M from the Pope is a drop in the bucket from the coffers at the Vatican.

Sorry, but I don't share your enthusiasm.

Has the Vatican given any humanitarian aid to the people of Afghanistan, Sudan or Iraq?

You are not, and God bless you for helping those troops.

I am against giving aid for this disaster, but I am not "stingy" or any other name one may call me. The issue here goes much deeper. It is the way this nation mismanages its resources that causes me to not give to charity or disaster relief.

Instead of scrambling around and raising new funds for this disaster, this nation could have taken $25 billion of the $1.1 trillion we spent this year on social welfare. That $25 billion could have gone into a fund set aside for "global disaster relief", and this could be done every year.

Then, when the hurricanes hit this summer and when the tsunami hit this week, this money would have already been funded without increasing our already $2 trillion spending.

But because we "spend as we go", every single disaster means a new round of waste and fraud, and adds to our $8 trillion dollar debt.

It is total insanity the way we rip off our taxpayers. Those who gladly give to charity and demand the government send foreign aid only perpetuate a method that is broken and piles waste upon waste.

The fact that much of this aid is transferred to corrupt officials and never gets to those in need is the other reason I am against giving aid.

Exactly how do you know how much the Vatican has in its coffer? I think $6,000,000 is a good sum considering all of the other charities the Vatican contributes too.Or maybe you're just anti-Catholic? BTW, I wonder how much money the other churches are sending?

I'm not anti-Catholic and I don't know how much money the Church has in it's coffers, other than from what I see on TV it appears there is not a shortage of gold plating.

As far as other Churches go, I don't have that answer either. Most Churches that I am aware of don't have a spokesperson like the Pope.

It seems like the Church has paid more than $6M in legal fees and settlements for their problems over the past year, and to advertise about their donation seems a little bit over the top, IMHO.

I'm glad that you added,"IMHO." The Catholic Church has always decorated it's churches and given the very best to God. You cannot sale Michaelangelo or the Sistine Chapel. The Church gives more than it's share to charities. And btw, that little remark about the churches legal problems. Don't you for a minute think the Catholic Church is the only one having these kinds of problems. The bigoted mainline media chooses to stress the problems of some of it's members because of it's anti-abortion stand,anti-same sex stand. BTW, there are many prominent protestant clergy who have a large following. Again, the Church gives God the best she's got. I hope that explains the "gold-plating."

What about Feed The Children out of Oklahoma. They are the ones that have the semi's with the Feed The Children Logo on the trailers. I know they have also been active overseas.

I don't trust United Way or the Red Cross after how they handled the 911 money donated to them. I also gave to Catholic Relief Services, https://www.catholicrelief.org/make_a_gift/contribute.cfm

When you do this, there is a place to add comments, and you say that it is for tsunami relief.

Actually he has a point...when Jimmy the penut brain decided American tax payers would bail out North Korea who was starving its children to death....the money and food went to the Army and money to their nuke program...

Had America not bailed out North Korea during their famine...we might have been able to defeat N Korea and would have stopped their nuke program with very little loss of life...

Not anymore...

When I donated this morning I noticed that the form had the donated ear marked for tsunami relief by default.

P.S. If anyone else is donating to CRS you will notice the server is very slow due to volume. Be patient and it will go through.

The American relief organization, USAID, has a huge list with links or charities. Find one you like.

People will remember who gave them food, watch and medical care when they lost everything.

You are probably having trouble because so many people are giving that they are overwelmed. Keep trying.

Or put a check in the mail.

Only fools would send money to "tsunami victims". This money WILL get into the hands of terroists and will be used to kill Americans. Think "Oil for Food". Besides, your tax dollars are being given to these nations anyway. When America announces it is giving cash to these nations, it is your tax dollars already being given. If you love America, do not give one penny to these charities.

How 9/11 donations to the American Red Cross ended up being handed out to rich NONVICTIMS, at $15,000 a pop, just because their ritzy, expensive condos happened to be sort of near Ground Zero.

Never donate. EVER.
