I was watching CNN's Inside Politics today (no transcript up yet) and they had a panel on - someone from the Washington Post, LA Times (Ron Brownstein) and Time magazine (Karen Tumulty). They were discussing our response to the disaster and the host of the program mentioned that the UN called our response "stingy". Then the panel went on to talk about how we "fumbled" this and were basically AWOL for one day. This just really made my blood boil. What have other countries done? The Brits say over 10,000 of their citizens were on holiday in that area. It's a large tourist area for Europeans. Where's the criticism of the EU and its member nations? And do we really have to play politics at a time like this?
lol, maybe we need an adults-only-not-for-sensitive-eyes board to let off steam. I know I often say some choice words when I read some of these articles (including this one).
"I was watching CNN's Inside Politics today"
Mistake #1
I think we should subtract what we contribute to disasters from what we give the UN. That will show them what we give to relief funds worldwide.
That's twice today I've seen reference to UN, bongs & condoms. What did I miss? Do I really want to know?
id like to see the usa military move in and take the real estate.
A Cussing Forum seems like it would be a great place for us; we could put it BEHIND the Smokey Back Room. :-)
So true. This makes my blood boil and I'm not even American. I posted it earlier on another thread...go ahead and help, but don't expect any thanks for it. I must admit, though, I didn't expect America to be insulted, and so quickly.
This reminds me of tactics used by spoiled teenagers. They complain no matter what they receive in hopes of receiving more, and they usually do. Rather, America should withdraw their current offer until they receive an apology, and a promise from the useless UN to be darn grateful for every penny received.
Anyway, how much money should anyone expect from "The Great Satan"?
lol, thanks for the laugh!
i agree, eye-tie. it is suspicious. whats this guy watching cnn for in the first place?
I have news for you OldSmaj....they don't love you even when the dollars are rolling in.
our towers were attacked and the rest of the world laughed. when we provide them with aid they laugh too.
Since Europe is the world's bastion of goodness and human rights, what are they giving to this effort? Oh, I forgot, that's not for anybody to worry about. Their station in life is pointing out how little America is giving to the world because we haven't placed the entire planet on welfare.
cnn (commie/klinton news network) number 10 ..
FOX Number 1 ..
How many more people did Saddam kill than this quake and tsumani?....The UN's response to murderous tyrants: Stingy.
The UN needs to recapture just a portion of the lost Oil for Food money. Then they could direct it toward the victims of this disaster.
I am in favor on NEVER allowing the UN to handle our donations again and to NEVER allow them to blackmail us into supporting any cause.
"America should withdraw their current offer until they receive an apology, and a promise from the useless UN to be darn grateful for every penny received. "
- Unfortunately it is the people in the distaster hit area who would be hurt by the US withdrawal of their offer of aid not the UN.
Doesn't Kofi Annan and his family have some money that can be put toward this relief effort?
the us should move into these tsunami devastated nations and loot their treasuries and museums.
I was going to comment on this atrocious hit piece, but I am so angry, I can't type.
The UN must be thrown off our shores! Now!
