I go out and spend big, was happy to do it, and I get nothing in return.
Yea, me too almost. Socks, scarf, cologne and something stupid from my sis and cheap bro-in-law which will end up never getting used. And the good food ends up as horrible hearburn with no antacids available.....

I gave a lot more than I received and that it why it was a great holiday, for me anyway. What a nice post!
Wouldn't it be a horrible thing if you had no family or friends to give to? I find that a great satisfaction as well!

Our Forefathers gave you a gift that keeps on giving. It starts off with, "We the People...."are sick and tired of those damn socks year after year after year.......

Take back the watch and trade it in. It is not worth keeping if you do not truly love it.
Then go to itunes.com or some other music site and buy online if you can't find the cd in the store. Even Amazon would probably have it. Merry Christmas :)

Well said - The true spirit of Christmas!
My wife and I quit exchanging gifts to each other many years ago. I cash in all of my sick-time every year which provides gifts for my children's Christmas, as well as gifts for family on both sides, co workers that we buy for, drawing names at church and school, our pastor, and to help out a family that our school and church has deemed needy. I do receive back from employees, my kids, my parents (who are retired and need to use their money for making ends meet...but they won't listen) and a few others. To see the look of joy on my children's faces on Christmas morning (and every morning for that matter) is all that I seek. Good kids that understand the true meaning of Christmas also and spend what little they have saved up to buy gifts for others and to each other.

I have a healthy three-month-old baby and a new-to-me-borderline-money-pit house. My wife and I agreed that was enough for this year. :)

It's like this - you aren't the only person who has had suffering (read FR on any given day - or better yet, asked to be put on the Prayer Ping list), and it neither raises you to a higher plane as a human being, nor does it grant you inoculation from criticism to protect you when you attack others (which is what you did).
In other words, you don't know me or anyboyd else on this thread, so don't make assumptions about me or I WILL respond.
Be thankful for what you have, and don't look to knock people down to raise yourself up - it won't work.

It's called "Music for the Six Wives of Henry VIII". It may or may not be the soundtrack, or companion to the British program of the same name. I think it's very relaxing. It's like Baroque music in that it makes good background music; very unobtrusive.

I have to admit I like the Pampered Chef stuff.
The rest is garbage, though.
How about those overpriced Partylite candles? Give me a break.

Good for you!
It always bothered me that Santa was raised to a mystical level, and had some traits most identified with Christ.
And then kids find out he's fake.
I would imagine this is around the time they start questioning if there is a G-d.

The writing is on the wall. Wake up and smell the coffee. Then call your lawyer.

I'd be mad, too.
Go ahead and return the presents and buy that CD.
And when she asks you about it, tell her honestly why you did it.

Poor guy, I personally never expect gifts and I do not except them from my family. I give gifts to the ones I love and that makes me happy. At first they didn't understand but now they except it and I never have to worry about it. I take my family to the stores and let them pick out their own gifts and I manage the budget for it. The real Christmas for me is when I see my family together which is hard since we live in different states and we spend this time laughing and carrying on like a bunch of high school kids cracking each other up with stories and jokes. We never bring up conversation that would make one of us uncomfortable because that is not the time or place for it. Life is to short to ruin the memories you want to remember the most. I also refuse to fight with family members about stupid things that add up to nothing. I do not judge them and they do not judge me.
Merry Christmas!
