The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

WASHINGTON - A terrorist attack on a tanker loaded with liquefied natural gas could cause massive damage a third of a mile away and could send a vapor cloud billowing more than 1.5 miles, government scientists say.

With the the nation clamoring for more natural gas, policy-makers are trying to figure out how to safely import large quantities of liquefied natural gas or LNG.

"New 12 New Jersey had a report at 6:00. They interviewed a middle eastern man in Jersey City where residents were meeting. He actually compared the manner in which the family was murdered to Zarqawi's methods in Iraq. He said "this is what Zarqawi is doing to the people in Iraq". Another ME man yelled "stop killing Americans in their homes". The reporter said they are investigating an Islamic extremist group."

I haven't heard one mention of this story on the news in Philly.

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "COPENHAGEN, Jan 17 (Reuters) - Denmark warned on Monday of imminent terror attacks against international rescue workers in Indonesia's restive Aceh province, the area hardest hit by the Dec. 26 tsunami.

IRAQ: IRAQI SECURITY FORCE TROOPS GROW TO NEARLY 4,000

MOSUL, Iraq -- In an effort to provide enhanced security and stability for the Jan. 30 elections, Iraqi Security Forces have increased the number of troops in northern Iraq.

Currently there are nearly 4,000 Iraqi Security Forces in the Mosul area. Their forces include members of the Iraqi National Guard and Iraqi Regular Army. Troops will continue to move into the area as the elections draw closer.

The increase in Iraqi Security Forces will provide additional security to allow the citizens of Iraq to vote.

Turns out that this is a suicide. Today's Asbury Park Press reporting that a man tied a rope around his neck and to a utility pole, then stepped on the gas. Pretty gruesome way to kill oneself. I saw it in hard copy in the Press today but for some reason APP.com doesn't have the story on line. I checked for a link.

Hazlet man's death ruled a suicide

HAZLET: Authorities are investigating the apparent suicide of a 50-year-old Union Beach man, whose body was discovered behind the Hazlet Multiplex Cinemas theater on Saturday.

Wolfgang Persieck's body was found inside his car, which was parked in an isolated area behind the theater on Route 35 about 10 p.m. Saturday, authorities said.

While the official cause of death remained under investigation on Sunday, investigators found several notes at the scene indicated that Persieck intended to commit suicide, Monmouth County Prosecutor John A. Kaye said.

It appeared that Persieck decapitated himself by tying one end of a rope to a light post and the other end to his neck, before pressing the accelerator in his car, Kaye said.

Two juveniles who were walking in the parking lot a short time later found the body and the car. The two then stopped Holmdel Officer David D'Arcy, who was driving his patrol car through the theater lot, Kaye said.

After an investigation, which included interviews with his family and a review of the notes in the car, authorities determined the death a suicide.

Hazlet Detective Sgt. Howard Nuss, along with investigators from the prosecutor's office, conducted the investigation.
