"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Thanks ffnj.....sadly my gut feeling on this may have been correct. The savage way in which they were murdered should speak volumns, about the motives to quell infidels (Christians, Jews, et. al) by the "Religion of Peace".

"Police: No War Stress for Marine Who Killed Cop"
WPVI.COM ^ | Jan 16 2005 | AP

Posted on 01/16/2005 4:05:48 PM PST by pickemuphere

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "CERES, CA-January 16, 2005 — A Marine who killed one town police officer and wounded another one was a gang member who was high on cocaine, not a combat veteran suffering from post-traumatic stress, police said.

Investigators said they are discounting a theory that Lance Cpl. Andres Raya, 19, may have instigated a "suicide by cop" – provoking officers to shoot him – because he did not want to return to Iraq.

"During our investigation, we found he wasn't due to go back to Iraq, never faced combat situations and never even fired his gun," Stanislaus County Sheriff's Deputy Jason Woodman said Saturday.

Raya shot the two officers with a rifle outside a liquor store on Jan. 9 before police returned fire and killed him."

Exclusive: Ashcroft on Triumphs—And Threats

Jan. 24 issue - Last May, Attorney General John Ashcroft made headlines when he declared the Feds had "credible intelligence" that Al Qaeda was planning a major attack inside the United States "in the next few months." But no attack materialized. So what happened? Last week, in a NEWSWEEK interview, the departing A.G. took credit for tough actions that disrupted plots, "significantly damaged" Al Qaeda and "made it far more difficult" for the terrorists to operate. He pointed in particular to the obscure arrest of a New York taxi-driver student who, Ashcroft aides say, was ensnared with the help of one of the most controversial provisions of the Patriot Act: the section giving the Feds new powers to obtain records of public-library users.

Ashcroft's claims may be impossible to prove; some counterterror officials insist the original intel about a Qaeda plot was both hyped and misinterpreted. The real strike, it now appears, was being planned for Great Britain, not the United States. Still, the case of Qaeda sympathizer Mohammed Junaid Babar may have been a key part of the story. A 29-year-old former student at New York's St. John's University, Babar was tracked flying off last winter to South Waziristan in Pakistan, where he attended what some analysts believe was a terror summit that included the notorious Qaeda pilot Adnan Shukrijumah and Dhiren Barot, the operative suspected of casing New York financial institutions a few years earlier. Justice officials say they learned of Babar's activities in part through a highly contentious method: monitoring his Internet use at a New York City public library, where he allegedly exchanged messages with Qaeda confederates abroad. (Ashcroft had previously told Congress that Justice had never used the library-snooping provision—an assertion he has conspicuously declined to repeat since the Babar case.)

Babar: pleaded guilty and told the Feds about an ongoing plot to blow up targets in London
NBC
Babar: pleaded guilty and told the Feds about an ongoing plot to blow up targets in London
Arrested in Long Island City last April, Babar flipped, pleaded guilty and told the Feds about an ongoing plot to blow up London pubs and train stations. Babar also confessed to supplying Qaeda members with ammonium-nitrate fertilizer to make bombs. Ashcroft says Babar's cooperation shows how the threat of fixed, lengthy prison terms produces valuable intel about terror plots—a tool he warned could be jeopardized by last week's Supreme Court ruling overturning federal sentencing guidelines. (The Supremes made the guidelines advisory, not mandatory.) "I'm more than a little distressed," Ashcroft said of the ruling. If judges have more discretion, terror suspects may conclude " 'I may be able to con the judge'," and their cooperation will dry up, he said.

For all Justice's purported triumphs, Ashcroft warned that the threat remains: Al Qaeda, he said, is "morphing" its approach and forging alliances with jihadi activists and other "extremists" abroad and inside the country. While vague about Qaeda operatives still in the United States, Ashcroft added: "I'm saying we have individuals in this country whose extremism is associated with the kind of objectives espoused by Al Qaeda and other radical extreme groups." And, he believes, they must continue to be watched.

Snippet of a December 10, 2004 speech by US DOJ Attorney General John Ashcroft:

http://www.usdoj.gov/ag/speeches/2004/121004endofyearaddress.htm

"Most importantly, for three years and 100 days, Americans have heard that another terrorist attack on our country was inevitable … that the FBI and the Justice Department, and state and local law enforcement's finest and bravest, could not and would not prevent it.

And yet we gather this morning in a nation that has not been attacked. The reason why is not a mystery.

Al Qaeda has not lost its thirst for American blood. It has not declared an amnesty on infidels. Terrorists will strike when and if they can. For three years, terrorists have not struck at America because you, and people like you, have not let them.

· We have taken al Qaeda operatives such as the Lackawanna Six, Iyman Faris and Mohammed Babar, off America's streets and into our custody.

· We have dismantled terrorist operations from New York to Oregon, from Florida to Ohio, from Virginia to California.

· We have brought criminal charges against 375 individuals and secured convictions or guilty pleas from 195 individuals."

LOS ANGELES - Thirty-two Chinese men were found inside two cargo containers on a ship arriving at the Port of Los Angeles from Hong Kong, authorities said.

The suspected illegal immigrants were discovered Saturday night when a crane operator saw three men climb out of a container on the Panamanian-flagged NYK Athena, said Los Angeles Port Police Lt. Titus Smith.

"This is a very large number," Smith said. "Most of the times, we get a couple of people here and there, but we haven't found so many for some time."

Considering the majority of reports on these arrests is that these were some bad guys (terrorists, militants, etc.) this is an interesting view by the tribal elders.

Jirga demands release of tribesmen held in N Waziristan
By our correspondent

MIRANSHAH: A 25-member Jirga of tribal elders met military and civil authorities here on Sunday and demanded the release of around 20 tribesmen arrested by Pakistan Army troops in a raid on a compound near Lowara Mandi on the Pak-Afghan border.

Tribal sources said the Jirga told the authorities that they would stop cooperating with the government if the tribesmen were not freed before Eid-ul-Azha. The tribal elders maintained that all those arrested were innocent tribesmen who were picked up on the basis of wrong information. They claimed none of the apprehended men was terrorist or militant.

The tribal elders were led by Malik Nasrullah Khan. The Jirga included some of the top tribal elders from Madakhel tribe of North Waziristan. Beside others, they met Colonel Waheed Bangash, commandant, Tochi Scouts, which is part of the paramilitary Frontier Corps.

According to the tribal sources, the Jirga members demanded that the arrested men be brought back to Miranshah, headquarters of North Waziristan, for interrogation by the Joint Investigation Team (JIT). In any case, the Jirga wanted these men to be freed before Eid-ul-Azha. Otherwise, the Jirga elders made it clear that they would stop cooperating with the government and the military in its campaign against militants.

The military had launched a big operation on Saturday by flying Pakistan Army commandoes in 10 gunship helicopters to Lowara Mandi and dropping them near a compound where suspected militants were supposedly hiding. Troops had also been sent during the night to secure the area and lay siege to the compound owned by one Habib Khan Madakhel.

The gunship helicopters were used to attack the compound before the commandoes and the troops on the ground moved in to arrest the 20 men, who included 18 Madakhel tribesmen and two Afghans. Around the same time, a vehicle coming from Afghanistan was fired at by Frontier Corps personnel when it failed to stop while entering Pakistan near Lowara Mandi.

The military operation was launched on the basis of information provided by intelligence agencies. Sometimes, such raids are organized on a tip-off by the US military authorities operating across the border in Afghanistan. In many cases, wrong information is fed to the US military by informers having vested interest. However, it wasn’t clear if there was any input by the US military which led the Pakistan Army to raid the suspected compound in Lowara Mandi.

Also in Razmak in North Waziristan, troops were assembling and entering the neighbouring South Waziristan tribal agency to secure new areas in the Mahsud territory and search for the most wanted militant Abdullah Mahsud

How long was your power out last night in those low low temperatures? Weatherman reports ice storm due tomorrow. Never a dull moment.

Those SOS youngsters are nothing but little clones of the evil ones out there now. The youth of Iraq undoubtedly needs deprogrammers to remove some of the hatred they've been taught. Americans have the same festering problem, but we call them "gangs" and law enforcement is forced to tolerate their existance and risk their lives dealing with them.

You spoke volumes with that sentence. We need to be ever vigilant about those around us or our family members, those watching us and even those who approach us or knock on our doors. Until our government takes an even more pro-active stance on ridding our country of people who don't belong here, we really aren't as safe as we'd like to believe we are.

Many of those here illegally are funded by Al Qaeda and do not have or need jobs to support themselves. They can only be rooted out by people observing their lifestyle and drawing obvious conclusions about their purpose in America.

I'm not sure how long power was out as we turned the generator on. Heat is a priority :-). I just don't use "extras" like the computer when we have to resort to the generator. Power was back up this morning. I hope the ice storm isn't bad. Snow is workable, ice is not.

Thank you kindly MD. Reading the article almost brought me to tears. This family came to the U.S. to escape this type of barbaric Islamic threat. The mention that the father was being taunted and threatened in an online chat room for his anti-Islamic postings, gave me a chill up my spine. One can easily make the assumption that that is how those who murdered this family found their address.

MamaDearest....so true is your statement regarding AQ and their funding. They can easily get student visas and stay for as long as they like, with little or no notice from law enfourcement.
