"Man slain in studio linked to Eminem"
He had recently put it on eBay to auction"

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Just a few weeks ago, Amjed A. Abdallah garnered national media attention for putting his Ferndale music studio up for sale on eBay, advertising it as a place where Eminem once recorded.
On Tuesday, he was found dead in that studio, lying in blood and shot twice. Well-known on the local music scene for his percussion work with the popular bar band the Howling Diablos, Abdallah was found at about 11:30 a.m. by a customer of the studio at 430 W. Eight Mile, said Ferndale Police Lt. Norm Raymond.
Based on the condition of the body, Raymond said Abdallah could have been dead for as long as two days, and might have been shot on Sunday. Abdallah, 36, -- known to friends as A.J. -- worked at the studio and lived above it in an apartment, Raymond said."
Very interesting indeed!
LOL LOL I can always use a good laugh!

Eastie gang linked to al-Qaeda
By Michele McPhee
Wednesday, January 5, 2005
A burgeoning East Boston-based street gang made up of alleged rapists and machete-wielding robbers has been linked to the al-Qaeda terrorist network, prompting Boston police to ``turn up the heat'' on its members, the Herald has learned.
MS-13, which stands for La Mara Salvatrucha, is an extremely violent organization with roots in El Salvador, and boasts more than 100 ``hardcore members'' in East Boston who are suspected of brutal machete attacks, rapes and home invasions. There are hundreds more MS-13 gangsters in towns along the North Shore, said Boston police Sgt. Detective Joseph Fiandaca, who has investigated the gang since it began tagging buildings in Maverick Square in 1995.
In recent months, intelligence officials in Washington have warned national law enforcement agencies that al-Qaeda terrorists have been spotted with members of MS-13 in El Salvador, prompting concerns the gang may be smuggling Islamic fundamentalist terrorists into the country. Law enforcement officials have long believed that MS-13 controls alien smuggling routes along Mexico.
The warning is being taken seriously in East Boston, where Raed Hijazi, an al-Qaeda operative charged with training the suicide bombers in the attack on the USS Cole, lived and worked, prosecutors have charged.
Also, the commercial jets that hurtled into the World Trade Center towers in New York City were hijacked from Logan International Airport.
``The terrorist aspect, especially when you think in terms of 9/11 and how intent these terrorists are, will turn the heat up on our efforts with MS-13,'' Fiandaca said.
MS-13 members congregate near the Maverick Square train station sporting white and blue bandannas, their skin inked with spider webs and ``laugh now, cry later'' clown faces.
``MS-13 is the most dangerous gang in the area,'' Fiandaca said. ``They are big. They are mobile. Now they have a terrorist connection.''
The theory that Salvadoran criminals manage to smuggle people over the border was bolstered this month when two Boston men described as MS-13 leaders were spotted on the North Shore days before Christmas - a year after they were deported by Boston Homeland Security Immigration and Customs Enforcement investigators for gang-related crimes.
One of the two men, Elmer ``Tiger'' Tejada, 24, who had been deported after being convicted of a slew of crimes, including attempted murder charges for hurling a machete at Chelsea cops, was busted in Lynn on New Year's Day. Tejada is described as ``an original MS-13 member'' from East Boston, sources said.
A manhunt has been launched for the second fugitive, who is in the country illegally, Boston police said.
The growing number of MS-13 members, and the degree of violence the gang engages in, prompted investigators from 14 local and national agencies to form the North Shore Gang Intelligence task force in 2000, Fiandaca said.
Among the most notorious local crimes attributed to MS-13 was the gang rape of two deaf girls, one 14, the other 17, in a Somerville park in 2002. Three MS-13 gang members were charged in the brutal rapes, during which one victim was knocked from her wheelchair before the assault.

Thanks, Myrddin
I'll check it out today.
Still catching up, just wanted to thank you both for the links to the articles about AQ and street gangs. I agree with SlowBoat407, it's disturbing but useful info.
N. Koreans Told To Prepare For War (1/5/04)
33-Page Manual Was Issued Last April
Jan 5, 2005 9:14 am US/Eastern
SEOUL, South Korea (AP) North Korea has ordered its citizens to be ready for a protracted war against the United States, issuing guidelines on evacuating to underground bunkers with weapons, food and portraits of leader Kim Jong Il.
The 33-page Detailed Wartime Guidelines, published in South Koreas Kyunghyang newspaper on Wednesday and verified by Seoul, was issued April 7, 2004, at a time when the communist regime was claiming it was Washingtons next target following the Iraq war.
The manualthe first such North Korean document made public in the outside worldwas signed by Kim Jong Il in his capacity as chairman of the Central Military Committee of the ruling Workers Party. That ended speculation over whether Kim has assumed the top military post following the 1994 death of his father, President Kim Il Sung.
Analysts said the guidelines reflected Pyongyangs fear over a possible U.S. military strike amid stalled talks on its nuclear weapons programs. They said the guidelines were also meant to whip up a sense of crisis among its 22 million people, reportedly growing discontent amid economic hardship.
The United States has cooked up suspicion over our nuclear programs and is escalating an offensive of international pressure to strangle and destroy our republic, the booklet said. If this tactic doesnt work, it plots to use this (nuclear) problem as an excuse for armed invasion.
Kyunghyang did not clarify where it acquired the document classified as top secret. Seouls National Intelligence Service said in a one-sentence statement: We believe the document reflects North Koreas wartime preparations.
The manual urged the military to build restaurants, wells, restrooms and air purifiers in underground bunkers, which government offices and military units will move into if war breaks out.
When North Koreans evacuate to underground facilities, they should make sure that they take the portraits, plaster busts and bronze statues of Kim and his parents so that they can protect them in a special room, the guidelines say.
The Kim family has ruled North Korea for more than a half century, creating a powerful personality cult. Portraits of Kim and his father hang side-by-side on the walls of every house.....
Probabilities are decreasing that this is true. Al-Zarqwai reportedly released a statement after the assination of the governor in Bagdad. Both cannot be true. Could be rumor based upon the recent arrest of a very senior Al-Z official. Nothing new in the media today. The whole affair appears to be a false alarm and false hope.
LOL I can just imagine the libs if our government suggested we add a portrait of Pres. Bush to our emergency kits.
RE: Blaming the laser on his daughter
do you think this man could simply be a scapegoat that was arrested
to give out generic responses to the media to calm the nerves of the
inquiring minds?
-skeggs<<<<<<<
I was going to answer "yes".
The Sheriff of Las Vegas is on KDWN radio as a guest once a month.
A caller asked him if the lasers were a state or federal law.
He said yes on the federal law, and was not sure about the state law.
He also said that a few years ago, there were a lot of problems with them being used on the police helicopters pilots.
Also several of the casino were using them as spot lights.
The casinos were asked to remove theirs.
There are a lot of plane crashes in Las Vegas.
I am 100 miles from them so listen half the day to them on the radio.
>> Our LEO's across the nation have quite a bit on their plate. I wish we had something more substantial we could do to help them. <<
As do I flutters, as do I.
Anyone have any suggestions on what more we could do to help out?
flutters....don't forget the plaster busts and bronze statues!! Seems the "Cult of Personality" for the Kim family has gone horribly awry. I can't imagine what the poor N. Korean people must endure on a daily basis.
The libs in our country can barely let the Bush supporters have a "W-04" sticker on their cars, or election signs in our yards.
thanks for the information but i wasn't sure about your answer, you were 'going' to answer yes. did him on the talk show referring to vegas change your mind or strengthen the fact that theres a cover up? We know Las Vegas is the city of lights and that anything light-orientated can happen there. With the recent rash at numerous airports lately, one tends to wonder just really wtf is up.
Even him being an officer, as I tend to notice- some people are so tied up with their normal day to day life patterns that they dont have the time to really question the events at hand. They may easily shrug it off thinking it's a coincidence or yet another prank but us that know the potential of these lasers and the goal of the jihadi's, well I'm sure we'd have a different response for all on the talk show. Las Vegas is our 'scapegoat' region because of all the light activity. I'm being cynical but how can one not these days.
Thanks for the input!

Thanks, All4one. Something doesn't sit well with this story. I think there's more here than meets the eye.

Downtown blast knocks out some power
Star report
January 5, 2005
An explosion in a utility space beneath a Downtown street knocked out power to part of central Indianapolis this morning.
Lights flickered off at 11:32 following the blast, which happened at the corner of Capital Avenue and North Street, a Citizens Gas spokesman said.
No injuries were reported, though power was said to be out between New York and 10th streets, and Delaware Street and Capital Avenue.
The cause of the explosion wasn't immediately known.
Public Safety Director Robert Turner, at a police command post, said an electrical short may have been to blame.
Some reports said there had been multiple explosions, blowing off manhole covers in the area. Police said they feared other explosions might be possible.
Power was cut to The Indianapolis Star and other nearby businesses. There was no report when the electricity might be restored.
