At least they could've flown the Leather Pride fag, er, flag.
Hard to believe today, but in the 1920s, much of Long Island (where I grew up) was northern Klan central.
I think the student historical club should hang a flag with the stars and bars on it, then explain that it means a respect for the importance of studying history to the members of the club. That way, there won't be any controversy.
After all, you should be careful about attaching just one meaning to a symbol, even if it's the meaning that 99% of the people attach to the symbol.
Shalom.
<< The crooked swastika .... is the Nazi logo. >>
Not "crooked" but left handed. The pagan-heathen, panthiest, death-worshipping Nazis used the left handed swastika -- a symbol of evil.
The GOOD LUCK swastikas pictured in #23 are left handed AND right handed.
Only if they're French.
Nope, they're right handed.
Left-handed Swastika Legend
The origin of the Nazi flag is given by Francis King, Satan and Swastika: The Occult and the Nazi Party, Mayflower Books, 1976. On p. 117 it is stated that in early 1920 various designs for National Socialist flags were submitted to Hitler:
The one finally adopted was designed by Dr. Friedrich Krohn, a dentist from Sternberg showed the swastika on a white disk against a red background and was intended to symbolize the ideology of the movement in red its social ideal, in white its nationalism -- and in the swastika "the struggle for the victory of Aryan man".
But Krohn's flag featured a right-handed swastika, traditional symbol of good fortune, spiritual evalution and the triumph of spirit over matter. The death-worshipping, pagan-heathen, pantheist-Satanist, Hitler, insisted on it being replaced by the left-handed swastika, regarded by occultists as the equivalent of a reversed crucifix, an evocation of evil, spiritual devolution and black magic.
Humpty Dumpty.
GOOD LUCK (left handed):
If Americans held conviction on that symbolism it would be akin to putting on "3 leaf clover" and "Lucky 13!".
A lot of "new money" started coming in the 80's. Mostly to Brighton, but that area is mostly now priced out of the market unless you have $300K to spend on a home. Brighton(and Milford and South Lyon) is now almost 1980's Novi(which is now almost 1980's Farmington Hills). Hartland is Highland West. Howell is booming as well and is "late 80's/early 90's Brighton", and there's a lot of growth in Pinckney and Fowlerville as well.
The good thing is that I haven't seen as much of the "rich suburban liberal" crap out here - outside of our local rag of a newspaper whose endorsement is joked as the "kiss of death" election time. Elitists or even perceived elitists aren't very popular in the political landscape here. The area is fairly liberal on school spending, but that's about it, although Brighton City is becoming much more liberal (Approx 53-56% GOP) than the rest of the county(62-65% GOP). That's probably due to being 20 miles from Ann Arbor, and the number of apartments there. However, most from those "rich liberal soccer mom areas" generally seem to be fleeing that crap - so far.
I do miss the country though, and I wish those who moved for the country didn't bring the city with them. Those who want to be a Novi should move there. Those who want the city should fix their old cities.
I will say that there was a little diversity crap when I was in high school. However, I don't think the answers to questions were what most teachers were looking for....
BTW - Bob Dole won the school election here.
What I find most disgusting is that they (the homosexual community) have taken the rainbow (a symbol from God) and used it for a flag that represents the glorification of a disgusting lifestyle. Parents really need to wake up and tell their children that we should love all people, BUT we should call sin what it is.
I agree. It has put the both sides into disarray on the issue. Now, it seems like diversity in the schools is a dirty word to some conservatives that only espouses homosexualism. I teach some diversity in my class, but it means to me respecting people and treating them fairly. It has nothing to do with homosexual overtones at all for me and many teachers (I don't believe that homosexual issues really belong in public schools anyway).
I have no problem with a Confederate flag in an educational sense. I really think that a LOT of conservatives and liberals go overboard with the PC c_ap. It's okay as long as it fits their political beliefs, but if it doesn't, oh boy!!!
My nephew goes to this school. I can guess what his reaction is. He would be against it.
I whole heartily agree with you, sexuality should not be taught at school (or various "choices"). It has no place in the school forum.
I know this may come as a surprise, given the negative propaganda that teachers receive at the expense of the school choice liberals and the press, but MOST of us agree with your statement and we agree that it is best taught in the home, a home with 2 parents who spend time with their children.
That is not surprising to me, my daughter has been very blessed by having Christian school teachers, I hope God will continue blessing us. I wish the rest of the country could see how much better off children are when they have two parents (male & female) raising them, and spending time with them. I chose this for my children after coming from a single parent household.
