ITHACA, N.Y. A nationwide poll finds nearly half of all Americans believe the U-S government should restrict the civil liberties of Muslim Americans.
The survey -- conducted this fall by Cornell University -- found that 44 percent favored at least some restrictions, while 48 percent said civil liberties shouldn't be restricted in any way.
Twenty-seven percent of the 715 respondents supported requiring all Muslim-Americans to register where they lived -- and 29 percent thought agents should infiltrate Muslim civic and volunteer groups.
The poll also found Republicans and people who described themselves as highly religious were more likely to support curtailing Muslims' civil liberties than Democrats or people who are less religious.
The executive director of the Muslim American Society says the news is disturbing, but not surprising.
I agree because it could just have easily said most americans want the "rights" of illegal aliens restricted.

Any rights given away are hard to regain.
If Islam is the tool of Satan (I might be wrong but I might be right), think of how we can fight the Evil One. By killing all Muslims or making them all register or even shipping them all back to the land of origin.
...Well, if Satan isn't real, then that might actually work...
However, if Islam is a Satanic tool...we are simply playing into his hands.
He hates, he kills...and he wants us to do the same.
really? And where exactly was I being hypocritical?
Very true. My daughter's class went to sing "holiday songs" to the vets at the local American Legion today. The muslim kids in her class (three of them) were NOT PERMITTED to go by their parents and were allowed to opt out of the field trip. Why? Because the parents are opposed to American soldiers, even WWII vets, without whom the scum wouldn't even be allowed to live and work here and suck off the teat of American bounty. That should make all of us sick!
The flood of Islamodefending noobs in recent weeks is staggering. I wonder what is causing it. Do the terorists have something big in the works?
Ah, so a "local" editor isn't good enough. Guess he wouldn't know how to find the sources of what he writes about.
Okay, didn't know that would be a problem.
Here's another source, maybe this will be better.
It looks to me like moslems are involved in quite a few of the conflicts on these 2 charts:

It does make me sick, ariamne!
I think it's just the libertarians floating to the top...
Here's a site to start with: http://www.worldhistoryplus.com/m/mongolEmpire.html
Now for a little excerpt: "After Guyuk's death, Batu sent Berke, who maneuvered with Tolui's widow, and in the next kuriltai (1253), the Ogodite line was passed over for Mongka, Tolui's son, who was said to be favourable to Nestorian Christianity. The Ogodites did not immediately go into opposition but they retained their Mongolian domains.
Chaghatai died shortly after Ogodai. The Chaghataites, who had previously accepted Guyuk, consented to the succession to Mongka with some reluctance, but on the whole the fraternal Mongol Empire did not disgregate. Mongka had two brothers who were brilliant warlords: Kublai and Hulagu. In the west, Baghdad and Iraq were subjected to Mongol rule in 1256-1258 by Hulagu (Ilkhanid Persia). A secessionist attempt by Baghdad was crushed and the last Abbasid caliph, al Mustasim, was rolled into rugs and trampled to death by horses. The Egyptian Mameluke Sultanate under Baybars contained the Mongol onslaught at Ain Jalut, Syria, in 1260."
I know that doesn't cover it all, but among the Mongolian leadership elite it was commonly the practice for any children to be raised in the religion of the mother!
Today's Mongols in Mongolia may well be predominantly Buddhist, but most of the Mongols back in the 1000-1400 period MOVED OUT OF THAT GODFORSAKEN MISERABLE PLACE and their descendants live all over the Eurasia in many nations.
Remember, these were the first truly modern people and didn't let the little stuff like religion get in the way of tax collection, good communications, a fulfilling sex life, and cheap wine.
You were being hypocritical on the day you joined, on December 11, 2004. You admitted that much in your very first comment.
"We must win hearts and minds to win this war!"
I guess the bottom line for me is I'm not willing to believe that the Muslims are a just an unfortunate group of people that are constantly being spin upon. There are a lot of people, starting with the Jews in Europe that were spit on, but they didn't start civil wars and mass killings, no, they took it and fought back within the system, and excelled. The same is true with virtually every immigrant group in this country.
Now it's the Muslims turn to win our hearts and minds. And they can begin by opening themselves up to review.
"Can you name me a country where Muslims have been able to live under a non-Muslim government, once they became a sizable minority?"
In case you could not read the question, I have posted it again. It requests a country with a non-Muslim government in which Muslims are a sizable majority, in which Muslims are able to live. Now, the only part of that question that is up for interpretation is the the part regarding "where Muslims are able to live." I interpreted that as, where Mulsims accept the current regime. If that is a mis-interpretation of the intent of the question, I'll let the person who ASKED the question tell me. As for my answers:
Indonesia: non-Muslim government (check), majority Muslims (check), Muslims (this does not mean all Mulsims) accept the current regime (check) (note: Indonesia is what, 90% Muslim-I may be a bit off, if they did not accept the regime, I doubt it would last much longer)
Turkey: non-Muslim government (check), majority Muslims (check), accept the current regime (check-perhaps to a lesser extent than Indonesia, but acceptance, yes) (note: yes, a secular government was instilled under Attaturk, however, the question did not require the history to be discussed)
please, either take your meds or don't take so much...I don'd mind disagreement, but I belive the posting directions request (Please: NO personal attacks)
So I take back my comments towards you. Merry Christmas!
I think the problem here is that we have both a religion and a fanatical cult of killers calling themselves muslim. We cannot tell them apart therefore it is going to be up to them to fix this situation. Otherwise we are going to harm innocent people trying to protect ourselves, we have no other choice.
Islam as expressed in many, perhaps most, mosques today is a Nazi-like ideology, and many, perhaps most Muslims in America identify with the enemy with which we are at war--at least it would seem that way based on many public expressions by spokesmen for Muslim organizations and by individual Muslims quoted in the media. Nazism had an important religious component; if Nazism had been presented first as a religion would we have been bound to respect it and its adherents, and their "civil rights," even after the War had been joined?
And do "Amercian" Muslims identify themselves as "Americans," as part of the Muslim Ummah, just "living in America"?
And what did we do with those German-American Bund members?
It is a common practice in parts of Afghanistan which were ruled directly by Mongol overlords to place a mezuzah on the door post.
That and the presence of folks with blond hair are among some of the great mysteries of that distant land.
