I just found out yesterday that you can opt out of Social Security if you want but you are not eligible for any benefits ever.

The company still has to pay the other 7.5% to the IRS.

I am working out the spreadsheet now.

That is not true. You have to be employed with a governmental entity that opted out of SS prior to 1984 if memory serves me right.

If you have different information and a rock solid, legal, and indisputable way for me to opt out of SS I will do so tomorrow.
