So Hitler was not a mass murderer, because he didn't personally kill anyone with his own hands? And Charles Manson is also not guilty of murder, becuase he "merely" instigated henchmen to do the crimes?

I'm not positive about this, but I don't think Manson was convicted of murder, was he? I thought he was convicted of "conspiracy to commit murder". Two very separate charges.
