FOX News Airs Religious Christmas Messages (Critics Wowed & Shocked)

Fox News Airs Religious Christmas Messages by Terry Phillips, correspondent

Critics are wowed and shocked that the network isn't afraid to say anything other than "Happy Holidays."

In a startling departure from the political correctness on much of network television, the Fox News Channel is running Christmas greetings with Bible verses. One references John 3:16, another displays the prediction of Christ's birth from Isaiah.

Perhaps even more surprising, critics love them. "I think they're beautifully done," said Sherry Gossett of Accuracy in Media. "I'm thinking of one I saw (which) had a painting by the Renaissance artist Botticelli, of Mary and Jesus surrounded by other figures. I think it's a lovely gesture."

As you might expect, the host of a Web site called hollywoodjesus.com was downright enthusiastic. David Bruce's group monitors movies and television. "Three cheers for Fox News," Bruce said. "What a wonderful thing to be doing at this time, when there seems to be self-imposed censorship on the 'reason for the season,' Jesus Christ."

Judging by the reaction, you might wonder why the other networks don't buck the PC trend of ignoring what we celebrate on Dec. 25. Tim Graham, at the Media Research Center, has an idea. "For some reason, in America today, being for the flag is conservative," he said. "Being for John 3:16 is conservative."

Fox News, by the way, is also running Hanukkah messages and ran spots at the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

Were it not for Christ, there would be no salvation and no Christmas!!!

If not for Christ's coming, we would still fear death as either the ultimate end or the great, unknown, shadowy realm of the dead, and not a place where "eye has not seen, ear has not heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him."

We are so blessed to live in the time after Christ's coming.

Just sent to viewerservices@foxnews.com:

To Whom it May Concern:

Thank you for having the courage and conviction to recognize Christmas and Hanukkah by name and symbol rather than with a generic "Happy Holidays."

Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah to all of you at FOX.

Sincerely,

I'm Christian. I understand that Jewish kids would feel left out during Christmastime. As good Christians, I think we should ensure that if a teacher has Jewish kids in her class, that their Hanukkah celebration is also represented. A real gutsy teacher could also explain the interconnection between the Jewish faith and Christianity.

Some of the best teachers I knew simply asked their kids what they celebrated. The class celebration then reflected those holidays. The kids decorated the classrooms with their own art. Parents were invited to share their special foods, and kids sang songs that reflected the classroom makeup. The teachers strove to include all kids, but didn't bend over backwards to celebrate holidays that meant nothing to their particular kids.

What I have problems with is kicking Christmas out of the school, while every Christian white kid in Utah dutifully sings Jamaican folk songs as part of their "Holiday Concert." As a matter of fact, none of my black friends even celebrate Kwanzaa. They prefer Christmas.

They are also running a general Happy Holidays/Season's Greetings with no religious message. The shock of of it all!

Only in this day and age, could the fact someone uses Bible passages and Christ in a Christmas message, and ITS NEWS!!!

The ads are great, very well done, and as you read along, you rememnber the Reason for the Season.

all these stories about Christmas being denied back in the states makes me glad I am out here with the Army. You better believe the soldiers out here are celebrating as much as they can.....

Not only that, but they're {GASP!} playing Christian Christmas carols in the DFAC and PX, there's an angel on the Christmas tree in the DFAC and banners that say "Merry Christmas," not some PC garbage like "Happy Holidays."

My mom grew up in Chicago, in a very Jewish neighborhood in the 1930s and 1940s. She tells me that all, I mean all, the kids at school participated in the Christmas programs. The Jewish kids donned robes and participated with all the other kids. The Jewish moms would come to the performances and were thrilled to see their children in the Christmas productions. Nobody was offended. No lawsuits drawn up. No proselytizing. Just appreciating and enjoying the holiday.

That is the way it was for me in Montreal in the 40's and 50's. If, being Jewish, we felt a bit strange, and we rarely did, it was no worse than for Protestants in that predominately Catholic society. Funny, I don't remember ever hearing a religious slur until my late teens, either.

Y'know, I think I felt then the same way I do today. Really, we are all seekers. Nobody really knows the answers to the big questions: why we are here, is there a God, and all of that. We just have our beliefs and theories, that's all. Anyone could be right, or could be wrong. A lot of people believe in Jesus, - then and there most did, so what was the big deal with honoring and remembering him?

Nobody was offended - I don't think even Orthodox Jews were offended. They weren't afraid of the competition! Mostly all it did was raise spiritual and religious questions earlier in my life than I would have had otherwise.

My 15 year old son was a bell ringer at Walmart this past weekend. His high school history teacher has organized the event for the last 12 years. Students were offered the chance to volunteer while in his history class, and most did. It makes mre happy to know my kids' school isn't PC infected.

God bless you and your fellow comrades in arms, and may He keep you safe.

You said..."It's about time someone started the trend...."

LK....Courage is the first of all of the virtues. Without it, none of the others can be practiced.

You said......"......we are celebrating here...."

LK....There is nothing like OJT in a 3rd world nation experiencing first-hand its' cultural practices, way of life, and laws to make Americans quickly develop a deep and abiding appreciation for our nation and its traditional culture, way of life, etc. For myself, as a military wife, OJT experiences came from both Turkey and Okinawa, with Turkey being by far the harshest, most health-costly, and sometimes even life-threatening, source of experiences. But those experiences left us stronger, wiser, and profoundly grateful for our nation, its freedoms, its way of life, and so on. I wish every ungrateful America-hating Grinch could be made to spend at least one year of their life in a place like Iraq, Turkey, etc. They'd be so grateful upon their return that they'd kneel and kiss the ground.

Take care of yourself Mike. You make all of us so very proud!!!!

The USPS website has stamps for Eid, Chanukkah and Kwanza. But the Madonna and Child stamp is labeled "Holiday: Traditional".

Your observations re secular atheist Jews being at the bottom of the Christian & Christmas bashing agenda are right on target. Read Rabbi Daniel Lapins', "Americas Real War", for an eye-opening, insiders look at this situation. He revealed, for instance, that the controlling powers behind the ACLU are mostly secular atheist Jews. He reveals how secular atheist Jewish orgs are also behind the homosexualization of America agenda, the state-sanctioned killing centers aka abortion clinics, the filth and sleeze being churned out by Hollywood, and so on. Lapin also draws a parallel between how they're determinedly eradicating God and Christianity from America in the same manner and for the same reasons as did their ideological ancestors in pre-Nazi Germany. And as Lapin noted, the consequences of their actions were horrendous. As I said, it's a real eye-opener.

On the radio yesterday, I heard an advertisement that actually said the word "Christmas" rather than "holidays." The ad mentioned Christmas several times, so I turned up the volume to hear who the advertizer was.

It was a local strip club. I'm not kidding.

We've got plenty! I was just at the PX. Just picked up my laundry today, too. See, I'm leaving camp TOMORROW (WOOOOOHOOOO!!) as I begin my exit from The Sandbox. I'll be in the BIAP area tomorrow evening.

My answer to everyone today who asks about work-related stuff: "I don't care...I'm leaving for a month-long R&R tomorrow. {smile.}"

Yep...I've got the R&R bug that renders you completely useless. :-)
