I think the Metallica from "And Justice for All" and before. Black album is alright, but I can't stand Load-onward.

I;m with RR —> I personally, prefer speed metal, hence I adore Metallica (the Black Album) — even some of their post-1995 songs, Megadeth, Anthrax and Pantera. I don’t like Slayer as I find most of their songs similar and their lame attempt to appear satanic is pretty stupid. I know everyone will kill me if I say I don’t like to listen to Led Zep or Pink Floyd.
