I would like to share with you the results of a statewide survey that made me very optimistic about us taking the Lt. Governor's office in 2006.
As you may know, Senator Tom McClintock has recently announced his candidacy for Lt. Governor. According to the poll summary, below, Senator McClintock represents our best chance of putting a Republican into this crucial statewide office.
In fact, at this early stage Tom McClintock already wields widespread statewide name ID as well as formidable leads over potential challengers.
Feel free to share this with others!

An Arnold/Tom ticket could be what is needed to unite the CA GOP. And GWB coming to the state to campaign for them both.

There is no "ticket." Lieutenant governor is a distinct office, elected separately from the governor. Often, it has been held by a member of the party opposite of the party of the governor. This was the case in the late 70s/early 80s with Gov. "Moonbeam" Jerry Brown and Lt. Gov. Mike Curb.

I was hoping he would run for Feinswein's Senate seat.
I heard McClintock speaking on the radio once. He says he has no interest in going to Washington. He wants to stay in California.
By being elected the Lt. Governor McClintock sets himself up as the prime candidate to follow Arnold into the governor's mansion.

If he's a good governor will he run for pres. in 2016?

Carona is the Sheriff of Orange County, reportedly with statewide ambitions.
Dear God, No! I made the mistake of voting for him once, when I didn't know who he was. I will not make that mistake again. I doubt he can be reelected sheriff let alone elected to a state wide office.

As an outside observer, I REALLY like the idea of a Schwarzeneggar/McClintock ticket. It seems as though the CA GOP is divided into two camps . . .the conservative and the moderates. Instead of running against each other in primaries, this would be a welcomed change of teaming up and beating the Dems and getting both camps into office. Fight it out behind closed doors, but be unified in the public eye. That is the only way the CA GOP can come back to its old prominence!

"Lt. Gov. Mike Curb"
Curb was Lt. Gov. under Reagan and was the one that signed the withholding bill into law when Reagan was out of state for 2 days.

Curb was Lt. Gov. under Reagan Huh?
Mike Curb was Lt. Governor from 1979 to 1983.
That was Gov. Moonbeam's second term. He did engage in some shenanigans, though, such as issuing executive orders when Jerry Brown was out of state.

Curb was a Republican and signed the withholding law into law in Regans last year in office.
I remember it all too well as I introduced Reagan as the lunchen speaker before 1800 people where he stated "As long as i'm governor I will never allow whithholding tax in the State of California"
A short time later Reagan left the state foe 2 days and Curb signed it into law.

Curb was Lt. Gov. under Reagan and was the one that signed the withholding bill into law when Reagan was out of state for 2 days. As they said in a Disney movie, "Boy have you got your lions crossed."
Curb was LG under Jerry Brown and had a lot of fun with him whenever Jerry tried to leave the state.
