I hate to say it, this is the same tactic the republicans used to kill several clinton nominees. Common sense never seems to be a strong suit when it comes to confirmations!

Actually, Zoe Baird was chastised over this but Senator Thurmond made it clear he supported her. It wasn't the Republicans that ended her nomination.

No,they couldn't! Clinton couldn't,so just WHY do you think that President Bush could? And besides,The Bush family is a stickler for doing what's right! They don't do underhanded things and don't go to bat for those who do.

If you want to know how I know this, ask my via FREEPmail.

"Now your talking, I'm not highly familiar with these names or resumes --- I'm going to be researching... but this is more like it."

Bill Bratton was responsible for all the NYPD initiatives that eventually returned NYC to a sense of normalcy (at least by NYC standards). He is an ambitious man, and he does have a rivalry with Giuliani going back as to who should take credit for NYC's gains in crime reduction. But if you talk to almost any NYPD cop with "time on" they would say that he was the most innovative and popular leader in the past 20 years.

From all that I've heard, read and seen the guy sounds like a winner. Possibly the most creative law enforcement leader in America. But, like I said earlier, I'm sure there are a slew of other qualified candidates from federal and local with whom I'm not familiar.

Clinton was able to keep Janet Reno in office after Waco. think about that for a second. think about what happened at Waco, compared to a nanny tax problem. Reno remained in office, sailed through with praise over Waco in fact, but Kerik has to go.

Either stop this illegal invasion or open the borders.

I'm for stopping this illegal invasion.

Moderate to well-to-do New Yorkers can start doing their own work.

Okay Gang.. this is a bit late. I chided this person for their attempt at defining Country Club Republicans and was greeted with a very angry, badly spelled diatribe regarding Bush Sr. and my beloved Ronnie.
I believe this "person" to be a badly educated "troll".. but hey.. you all have probably already decided for yourselves!

Is this true? or just something your putting together? I thought Rudy would make the best choice from the start.

Actually, Clintons wanted Reno first (because she was an empty suit they could push around), nominated two no-go's first and then when she was up the Waco thing had started, Hill and Bill screamed that congress was at fault due to their hasseling all the nominees and she flew through without a looksee... very slick and very Clintonesque.

I'll admit my lack of facts. I based my opinion of Bernard Kerik on what little I learned about him after 9/11, a glossy television biography by Judith Miller on FOX and subsequent interviews with him when he was in Iraq and upon his return. He spoke briefly at a neighborhood "town hall" meeting I attended when I lived in New York and then-Mayor Giuliani answered questions from participants. That was of course prior to 9/11 and more of a local focus, so my impression of him at that time was "Hey, this guy is okay."
