LIEberman is a mealy mouthed, say anything,LIBERAL weasel. He wouldn't be any good At all in this post and isn't loyal to the president, nor does he share President Bush's views.

And LIEberman has less backbone than a jellyfish has.Oh yeah...can't you just see that kind of a man as head of Homeland Security? YUCK!

I don't think it will hurt W anymore than Chavez did... and that didn't hurt him at all.

Hope you're right. Obviously it will make happy whomever it was on the left that exerted enough pressure on this guy to make him back off. Hope all's well for him.

His departure will be a nice diversion for the media for a while........wouldn't this be a great time for CBS to release their investigation into document gate!

"Ya know, alot of us prayed for Bush to have 4 more years for the good of America and God heard and answered. I for one, just want what's absolutely best for our country - we can't always see it, but God can. I pray for the best man for the job to get the job."

From what I've heard from the older guys on my job, Bill Bratton would be the man if you're looking to hire someone with extensive domestic law enforcement experience. He was the real innovator as NYPD commissioner long before Kerik, but left becuase he butted heads with Giuliani. He currently runs the LAPD.

A shame, though I'd like to see Ollie step in.

A great suggestion, I would love to see Oliver North as HSD. The MSM, PC and lib crowd will have a field day going after him during the nomination process. I don't think Ollie would put up with the Bravo Sierra though.

Well, they're not fighting it, are they? That should give you a clue.

It is tradition that the second term president ends up mired in controversies.

We need to have a thicker skin if we are going to get anything done, otherwise the rats will have us for lunch.

Let's start looking for another good nominee and a tougher one than Bernie.

Lets stick it too them Mr. President!

I'm not buying the nannygate excuse either.

I liked Kerik after he became known after 9/11. But there was something that struck me funny about his return from Iraq. I cannot and have never been able to figure it out, but something that has just clawed at me about his return.

"The reason Bush cut him loose was that the dirt got heavy"

President Bush didn't cut him loose, Kerik decided.

Again, I think that the Bushies would have done their due diligence... somebody's gonna get spanked for missing something Big... W should have know about this before the nom. and he's probably ticked... He could not have been so noticeably problematic (abuse of power etc.) must be something specific and chargeable...

because he has real life experiences. and that's what we need more of in government. look at the CIA - destroyed by empty suit Ivy Leaguers.

every stop of his career includes some pretty serious charges, we don't need that.

You need to break eggs to make omelets.

This BS screening is why we always end up with pansies.

I don't think trying to get him through was a bad idea.

wouldn't this be a great time for CBS to release their investigation into document gate!

You mean Dan Rather's rather unexpected retirement announcement wasn't CBS announcing their "findings"?

Kerik also "decided" to accept the nom. and stand in the press room. Did he just have a change of heart or do you believe his lawyer (didn't your mom tell you never to do that?) that this is about his baby sitter...?

Regarding Nanny-gate:

Senator Mark Pryor-D AR had the same thing when he ran to unseat Tim Hutchinson, except he wasn't overseas when he had an illegal nanny working in his house.

The AR media spun it as a dirty Republican trick and buried the story. Plus, a lot of conservative voters did not vote for Hutchinson because he left his wife and married some staffer so Pryor won the seat. We now have another D in the Senate thanks to stupid voting, a stupid marital decision, and a media double-standard.

On the bright side, this will elevate the issue of illegal immigration on the minds of voters.

Kerik's letter to Bush

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

December 11, 2004

Text of Kerik's letter to Bush

Dear Mr. President:

It is with deep regret that I inform you that I cannot continue forward in the confirmation process for thc position of secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.

While I will always consider your confidence in me to be the honor of a lifetime, I am convinced that, for personal reasons, moving forward would not be in the best interests of your administration, the Department of Homeland Security, or the American people.

Mr. President, as I stated on the day of my nomination, you have been a strong, effective and inspirational leader in the war for freedom and against terror. Under your watch, our nation has taken swift and bold strides against those who threaten our homeland. I remain firm in my belief that I could have made valuable contributions to the department and its efforts. Under the present circumstances, however, I cannot permit matters personal to me to distract from the focus and progress of the Department of Homeland Security and its crucial endeavors.

For these reasons, I must ask you to withdraw my nomination. I personally apologize to you for not having focused on this earlier.

With respect.

Bernard B. Kerik.

I guess it would be a conflict of interest to be in charge of securing our borders from illegal aliens, when in fact he has hired one to raise his kids.
