The Ents of Europe
The National Review Online ^ | 12-10-2004 | Victor Davis Hanson

The Ents of Europe Strange rumblings on the continent.

One of the many wondrous peoples that poured forth from the rich imagination of the late J. R. R. Tolkien were the Ents. These tree-like creatures, agonizingly slow and covered with mossy bark, nursed themselves on tales of past glory while their numbers dwindled in their isolation. Unable to reproduce themselves or to fathom the evil outside their peaceful forest — and careful to keep to themselves and avoid reacting to provocation of the tree-cutters and forest burners — they assumed they would be given a pass from the upheavals of Middle Earth.

Dr HAnson is an incredible gift to our Republic.

Europe is allowing the Muslims into Europe for one reason only. The Muslims are willing to do the work that the poor whites would have done back in the day when familes had 5 kids or more and there were plenty of hands to go around.

But now European families have one or two children and their parents want them all to be doctors, or lwayers, engineers, etc. So who will sweep the streets and collect the trash?

To enable their children to move up into the white collar world and avoid the consequences of a sexually libertine culture, they allow for the abortion of any accidental pregnancies which drives the birth rate even lower.

So, essentially the Europeans have decided to ahve their sexual excess, wealth and 'fullfillment' and pay the price of giving their ancestral homeland over to an alien population steadily over the coming century.

Fine by me, I am sick of being associated with them anyway.

From the story:

Only now are Europeans discovering the disturbing nature of radical Islamic extremism, which thrives not on real grievance but on perceived hurts — and the appeasement of its purported oppressors. How odd that tens of millions of Muslims flocked to Europe for its material consumption, superior standard of living, and freedom and tolerance — and then chose not merely to remain in enclaves but to romanticize all the old pathologies that they had fled from in the first place. It is almost as if the killers in Amsterdam said, "I want your cell phones, unfettered Internet access, and free-spirited girls, but hate the very system that alone can create them all. So please let me stay here to destroy what I want."

---Its good to see someone pointing this out to the Euros. Will they take heed?

It may take a major attack for them to wake up. It took Pearl Harbor for the U.S. to snap out of it's isolationist sleep.

After 9/11 he wrote a great article showing how today's liberals would have reacted to Pearl Harbor.

If the Europeans are Ents, then the Muslims must be the Orcs. The Americans, of course, are the Men of Westernesse. And wouldn't President Bush make a perfect Frodo! Always misunderestimated.

Europe has given up it future for a short success. Instead of having children and creating families Europe has opted out for short term wealth. Instead of having children the people would rather drive fancy cars and have bigger houses -- after all children cost money.

For each action there is an opposite reaction -- little or no children -- which equals little or no future for short term wealth. 100 years from now Europe will be Islamic with small pockets of Christians -- after all driving the latest Mercedes-Benz is more important than saving money to raise a child!

Bin Laden makes for a perfect Sauron. You barely see him but he's clearly the pure evil leader. Does that make Saddam Saruman?

The Ents try to find the Ent-wives, but they can't find them. That's the reason they do not reproduce. The Ent-wives just simply left and dissapeared. I wonder why...

Yes indeed. Time to check and see if they HAVE any guts, for starters...

I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop - the European Press will shortly write editorials blaming Bush - "If America hadn't gone to war so quickly, the Arab Street would not have been stirred up and Europe would still be a peaceful socialist paradise."

No, they aren't going to wake up until its far too advanced for anything other than a large scale - global - war. They don't get it - World War IV has already started.
