Oh, Howlin, c'mon!
What a terrible argument!
First of all, any voting citizen has not only sufficient qualification, but also has the responsibility, to judge the public acts of elected officials. How can our system work otherwise?
Secondly, the "He knows more than you do" has been used often to defend the worst executive incompetence-you may even have run into this at work.
Information is not judgement. It matters not how much information an official has, what matters is if he uses that information wisely and makes good decisions.
Any enfranchised adult is absolutely properly qualified to judge this, and to express opinions about it.
Please reconsider.
Properly qualified to judge perhaps, but not necessarily well informed enough to judge correctly.
Expressing opinions, absolutely.........but they are just that. Opinions.
And those of us who have enough information about the President himself to trust his judgement (not excuse 'executive incompetance'), have the right to express the opinion that he is trustworthy without ridicule from others. (Not talking about you here).
I'm sorry, but I'm not going to "reconsider" the thought that people sitting at computers know more than George W. Bush does about who the best people to serve him are. No way.
Not even me.
I will admit that I don't care for Monetta either because of his policy that only two Arabs per plane can be profiled.
However, it's such a ridiculous policy that I have often wondered if it isn't a bit of misdirection. Put out there the fallacy that only two Arabs per plane can be profiled but the truth is that we're really hoping 3 or more Arabs show up and we can profile them all.
Thank you for your excellent reply. I was away all day and just now saw Howlin's question. I was preparing to answer that it is my God-given right and duty as an American citizen, but I see you beat me to it. Thank you for reading my mind and communicating that to Howlin. :-)
