The "Feed the World" contains the horrible line by Bono, "And thank God it's them instead of youuuuu..." Just elitist, pretentious and patronizing - as if we're all so selfish we just dismiss the needy with a wave. Generally I love Bono and U2, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that he didn't mean it that way.

I think Bob Geldof headed that one up. Judging by Bono's activism in Afican affairs, I can only assume that meeting kind of was the introduction for him into things going on in Africa. I go round and round with folks like Bono--like them or not. For all his pestering us, he genuinely seems to care about what is going on over there and pumps a lot of his own money into it. I do think he's fooling himself if he thinks he can cure what ails them(that was Jesus job and he's not Jesus), but I hesitate to put him in with the other libs who give lip service to human charity. He really seems to carry very deeply about what is going on there.
