Christmas is THE NEW C-WORD by: William Donohue,, December 02, 2004
Parents in Maines Scarborough School District say that efforts to ban Christmas have become so extreme that they now refer to Christmas as the new C-word. In nearby New Hampshire, things arent any better. For example, the principal of Epping Elementary School boasts that his school raises money for the needy, but we dont call it a Christmas gift drive, and thats because its a time for giving and thats pretty much universal. But if thats the case, why choose December as the gift-giving month? Similarly, why is December a time for giving? His counterpart at Newfields Elementary is so wound up about Christmas that he actually said, weve tried to distance ourselves from religion and world events. No doubt hes been a smashing success.
North Carolinians are no strangers to the C-word, either. At a recent Charlotte-Mecklenberg school meeting of parents, Rose Hamid, who heads a group called Muslim Women of the Carolinas, expressed her enthusiasm for censoring Silent Night in the schools. She won. Joy to the World was similarly banned, though apparently the parents were stumped on what to do about Jingle Bells: some said it was okay, but others were smart enough to say that the song is still linked to Christmas.
The schools in Maplewood, New Jersey have prohibited the singing of all religious songs, leading some at Columbia High School to question whether Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer was also verboten. City officials in Denver will allow Merry Christmas lights this yearfor one last timebut will go with Happy Holidays starting next year.
This is only the beginning of the Christmas season and already the anti-Christmas crusade is in high gear. In the name of separation of church and state, they distort it. In the name of diversity, they crush it. In the name of tolerance, they obliterate it. Which is why we need to call them for what they arecultural fascists.
Even if (from our perspective) a near perfect assemblage should be accomplished it would take years for all of our issues to find their way through the system. Remember the Warren court trend began over 40 years ago!
In the meantime, the intellectual elite in our country that ARE the entertainment industry, the MSM, and most treacherously, the Education establishment march on.
Every minute of every day the secular humanist monolith that makes up the Education faculties and admistrators are working fevershly on turning out missionaries. Of course they are ably assisted by their compatriots in the other disciplines. So I believe the only answer is to force the gubmint schools to die on the vine by getting our kids out of them, NOW!
If we don't, (IMHO) the "Cool Kid(s)" inevitably win.
When I voted for Bush I knew I was voting for the lesser of two wrongs, and am not surprised by the Actions of the Bush administration.
It is the Bush bots that want to see JEB or RINOS such as Rudy be our nominee in 2008 that worry me. I am glad though to see Conservative in Congress such as Duncan Hunter and Stenbrenner stir up the issues that people want, and cant wait to see Senators such as Tom Coburn get into office.
Amen and amen!
Conservatism WILL rise again! ;o)
What scares them most is that one day, the majority will get tired of 'turning the other cheek' at their vicious hijinks.
