You just don't get those pressure gauges in PCs any more!

I'm impressed how close they were. Even though the technology wasn't available, they predicted home PCs with big ugly monitors 40 years before they arrived. Not bad.

this is a HOAX -- the printer/console looks like a DECwriter from the 1970's, the dials & annunciators & controls look like the console to a powerplant...

i really like the wheel though: would be great w/ GTA

Not to be picky, but the '2004' doesn't seem to match the rest of the font.

I gotta have one.... what with that Philco TV (monitor) mounted on the wall and that Buick steering wheel.

PC of the future (as predicted in 1954)

What's so funny? This is exactly how my PC looks.

The modem takes up a city block and uses 120,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity.

This fun bit o' photo(shop?) jiggery was debunked elsewhere on FR (sorry, no link, working from memory) a while back. The original photo was of a mockup of a submarine control panel (hence the wheel) and did not include the man or the printer, which conveniently covers a museum-type description.

Wish I could find the FR thread because it included links to other fun stuff done with the same photo...

Well, you spin it, and you have two chances to get as close to a dollar as you can. The person with the highest score without going over a dollar goes on to the Showcase Showdown. If you get a dollar on your first spin, you get $1000 added to your prize total!!!

LOL. The 'pajammadeen' exposes yet another forgery.

GTA?

The wheel is great. I don't know what I'd use it for but I want one.

-this is a HOAX-

agree. Does look like a power plant control station.

In the 50's there would be some analog functions, but dials, not gages. No good reason for wheel. The keyboard does not fit the time nor does the TV.

A better hoax would have been a large, dresser size box with a large vacuum tube on top.

The wheel is a pressure valve for your disk drive. Without it, all the bits would fly off the platters!!!

Actually that does look alot like some computer rooms I remember working with in the late 1970s. The printer looks familiar. The only thing missing are the big Kennedy tape drives.
