BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) A large explosion and machine gun fire rocked Baghdad's Green Zone on Saturday, sending a black cloud of smoke into the air.

The explosion occurred at about 9:30 a.m. near the area that houses the offices of the interim Iraqi government and several foreign missions, including the U.S. Embassy.

''The explosion was a very large one, but at this stage we don't know what it was yet that caused it,'' U.S. Embassy spokesman Bob Callahan said.

Stay safe!

They missed.

Actually, I'm not in the Green Zone. I'm in the lower part of the Sunni Triangle. (Northern Baghdad.)

Doesn't that ease your mind? ;-)

I propose that the U.S. immediately adopt and publish the following nuclear doctrine:

In the event of a WMD attack by terrorists on the U.S. homeland or U.S. military facilities overseas, the U.S will immediately and without discussion use its immense nuclear weapons capabilities to destroy the 100 largest Islamic cities on earth, regardless of state, and destroy all of the military facilities of Islamic-dominated states. This will include all of the capitals and at least the 10 largest cities of all Islamic-dominated states and the "holy" cities of Mecca and Medina. In addition, North Korean cities and military installations will be destroyed. Now suddenly everybody from Casablanca, Cairo, Damascus, Riyadh, Tehran, Islamabad, Pyongyang and Jakarta have skin in the game. The last thing they want would be a WMD attack on the U.S. It would mean certain destruction of their societies. They might even be motivated to actually and feverishly work against Islamic terrorism instead of the tepid lip service they currently give. Those "freedom fighters" currently being cheered in the streets would be transformed to deadly threats in the very societies that spawned them.

I saw an updated report that more people were believed killed. All were Iraqi -- I think.

One report had 12 people killed.

But I wonder if they include the suicide bomber or bombers inside the car [I saw a report this was a car bomb or multiple car bombs].

I getting angrier by the day that we don't pound these bastards into the sand every time they assault us. Every bombing should be met with an immediate MOAB. Let their women and children suffer with them. Then maybe the Iraqis will turn against those who are doing this and we will start to find bodies hanging from poles without their heads.

If we don't get serious with this war, it will be certainly turn into a quagmire. This has to be firmly under control by 2008. The American people are tiring of this war. Both those that wanted it and want it won, and those that didn't want it. This can't be a campaign issue again in 2008.

It is the Liberal media that are tying our hands. Anything we do they will be there to make the worst of it. If my son gets killed because of it, I'm going to take it personally.

I am in your debt.

My son tells me he doesn't go anywhere without his girl "Painless". A M249 Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW). This is the weapon he re-trained with in Fort Hood.

God bless.

We need the capability to rewind and track the car to where it started from.

That is non-trivial intelligence, but possible.

There is a heat signature given off by a car engine while it is driving.

There are certain types of Intel that needs to be invented. The moral of Heartbreak Ridge is important -- we must improvise.

Computers can do this. There may be also something that can be computer derived by the pattern of the car -- speed, turns, etc. -- mode of operation.

It might be possible to determine potential cars, and force them to stop by inadvertently blowing tires on the car.

If a car is carrying 400 pounds of C4 or something like that -- it may have a signature of some sort.

This should be a priority for the Intels.

Blowing tires at a key point might prematurely detonate the car -- by putting wine bones in the road [Intels can figure out what wine bones if they are clever.
