His job at Homeland Security will not have anything to do with gun control issues. The law is what it is, and he will work within it.I'm not talking about his ability to run the HS dept.. I was commenting on some person's statement that he was a great choice because he's conservative.

Great choice.
I seem to recall that he said in an interview that he is a FReeper.....anybody recall that or am I day-dreaming?

Great choice, he is a "self made", "principled" and "skillful" man, a kind of person largely unknown to Democ-rats.

GW and Bernie mean trouble for the scuz bags who got jobs in Homeland Defense thanks to the bill language put in by Da$$hole and other rats.

but [Kerik's] lack of academic credentials somewhat troublingSo, you would maybe prefer a butt-kissing bean-counter with an Ivy League degree in charge of our security? Please.

The left should know better than to misunderestimate the effectiveness of a badass with smarts and vision. We conservatives need to be more understanding and sensitive towards people with learning disabilities! They might need to be taught the same lesson many times before they finally get it. Having the patience to teach the Left over and over not to mess with him is one of the reasons George W. Bush really is a Compassionate Conservative.

Good. Let's hope Asa resigns. You and me both. I've never trusted him, ever since the Mena days. He was in thick with Bubba back then.

I was so happy when I heard this--I read Bernie's The Lost Son and it was very moving. This guy was a first responder and knows the face of terror. And please stop trashing NY--a lot of us blue staters are red to the bone. And I don't mean commie red. As for gun control, I am willing to bet he's gone through some changes since 9/11. Good move, W!

I don't care who the President nominates... If the borders are not closed, the appointment is meaningless. President Bush will not close the borders, nor does he want to. End of story. Homeland Security? I don't think so.

He has impressed me for a very long time. What he accomplished as part of Rudy G's administration (and even before) in New York City is amazing.
People said the city was on the skids, tourists were afraid of muggings, Times Square had become a haven for drug dealers and prostitutes. Bernie K. cleaned it up and made it a great place to visit... as a result businesses and tourists moved back in.
IMO he's a prime example of someone who came from difficult beginnings and instead of feeling sorry for himself, made something fine out of their life.
I read that he may "bread the china" but things will get done a Homeland Security. I hope this is an accurate assessment, because I (for one) am sick of politically correct thinking, I'd rather have a John Wayne-type who can get things done and let the chips fall where they may.
To: HoustonCurmudgeon
I heard him say he is in favor of both borders and security! So did Asa.
