Christine Gregoire is asking her Democratic Party to request a recount all the votes in Washington or don't count at all.
Gregoire says she knows it would be cheaper for the party to request a partial recount in a few counties that would likely help her overcome Dino Rossi's 42-vote lead.
But she says her goal is to count all the votes in the state to settle the governor's race.
The party has until 5 p.m. Friday to request the recount. Democrats have been raising money for the count that would cost about $700,000.
The John Kerry campaign donated $250,000 toward the Washington recount.

All this means is that they have then money, they have the votes manufactured, and they know there will be a state wide recount no matter what. Why not spend someone elses money to buy a little credibility.
or maybe she knows that she has no chance whatsoever, so why not act like she's on the high road...
she could be setting herself up as a principled Demonrat , just to have her party "insist" on doing only Kink county....that way, she'll look good either way.....

I totally agree. A partial recount should not be legal.
They already had one. Now we are talking a HAND recount. The original lead was 261. Miraculously, they found about 219 Gregoire votes squirreled away somewhere in King County.
They are going to count until they win here.

No integrity at all. The US Supreme Court made the decision for her in Gore v Bush......
Integrity? Or just a realization that if everyone's counting then there will be many fewer watchers in King County?
And if they don't ever come out ahead, "the Pubs stole the election". Just like 2000.
Actually they had found about 270+ (IIRC) in king county, only Rossi was able to extend his lead slightly in other counties. Had the margine not shifted in favor of Rossi, the King County "findings" would have thrown the election.

They have already been recounted by machine. The dems are wanting a hand recount now.

Well, what do you think it should be ? 2 out of 3 wins? 3 out of 5 wins? Hmmmmm.....it's ridiculous....if they do a recount, Washington State will be the BANANA REPUBLIC of the United States!
A recount certainly would be appropriate if 42 was the margin of the original count. What they're asking for now is a recount of the recount. Dino Rossi has won twice now, with both the original count and with the machine recount. A third try by the Democrats, through a less accurate hand recount, is not appropriate. I don't see how Dino Rossi could possibly concede if he were to lose 1 out of 3 vote tallies.
