My two young ladies (one mine, one her best friend) will be wearing gowns. They are in a JROTC program at their high school which has a traditional Regimental Ball annually, at which all the young ladies are expected to dress in formal evening attire, so they have already have gowns. But they are still watching for good deals on new ones, just in case.

:-)

Depending on where you live in FL, you may want to check out Loehmann's for fantastic deals on some beautiful dresses and gowns. Also, last summer daughter and her friend were in a Dillards in FL and they each got beautiful gowns for less than $40...

One other idea, which some snooty people may turn their noses up at - thrift stores often have great deals on like-new formal gowns; some folks won't wear the same thing twice. I bought one once that was in perfect condition and I altered it to fit daughter for her Halloween "Cinderella" costume.

This would be fun to wear. (But my kid says I'm nuts)

Thanks for the helpful info and messages to me.

We have been finding beautiful dresses at Dillard's lately. (We took a cruise in Oct. and needed some new clothes). Anyhoo, the Vietnam Veteran's thrift store is our favorite hangout. We go there once a week on Wednesdays, so we'll keep our eyes open in the dress aisle.

So looking forward to meeting all of you. I wish our kids had more than one night to get to know one another. My daughter is very shy for the first 6 months she knows someone, then after that, she'll never shut up. I hope she'll get to know some other conservative "kids".
