Imus wears a large caliber hand gun in plain sight unless he's wearing a jacket, has for years. AFAIK, "open carry" is specifically illegal in New York, especially for a concealed carry permit holder.
Refreshingly enough, it is perfectly legal in New Hampshire, no permit required.
