Hillary Won't Run in 2008
WMAL Radio | 11/29/04

Posted on 11/29/2004 10:17:25 AM PST by carola

This morning on WMAL radio I heard someone, I believe it was Richard Leiby of the Washington Post Reliable Source column, say that Hillary Clinton has decided that she is too polarizing a person to win the presidency in 2008, so she will concentrate on raising money with the purpose of winning back the Senate for the Democrats.

This is a crock, and I don't think even he believed it because he commented on how much she has moved to the center and is cooperating with Republicans. If she had no designs on the presidency in 2008, she would be moving way to the left of Kennedy and Kerry as fast as her little legs would carry her. This is a typical Hillary lie which she thinks will calm anti-Hillary passions while she raises money and make plans for her inauguration in 2009.

"I wasn't arguing with you. I agree that HRC won't win."

I guess I was just making sure you knew we were on the same page.

"I can't think of one candidate Bill has campaigned for in the past four years who has won."

LOL

Even I am not that slow! ;)

She has to run. It's for the children.

If she runs a campaign based on enforcing immigration law...she WILL win.

Hillary needs time to "reinvent herself".

Looks like Hillary's gonna be mighty busy with her Extreme Makeover. The question is---in light of the resounding 2004 Values Voters Victories---how "conservative" will Hillary get? After she opens a charge at Wal-Mart, enrolls in divinity school, and gets a lifetime membership in the John Birch Society, she'll need to get a shopper's card at Sam's Club, and schedule daily morning prayer services in her Senate office, just to make sure she covers all bases.

Maybe Hillary will campaign for 2008 wearing the official
DNC apron, and give Easy-Bake oven demonstrations.

I think Hillary would lose but Repubs need a good candidate.

Rush had an article on how Repubs are planning to have 60 seats in the Senate in 2006. He read an article on how the Dems may have a tough time.

Bush & the Repubs need to govern like Republicans.

"I certainly hope you turn out to be right on this issue but methinks you're a bit too sure of yourself and are showing a bit too much naivete."

"naivete"? Hey ... watch who you're calling names!

Seriously ... I am certainly no pollster, and as I have more in common with my grandchildren than children now, I am probably one to avoid in giving political opinions, but I know a little bit about human nature and I honestly have not met a woman that said she would support Hillary.

That, alone, means little, but is very telling.

Now add up all her negatives irregardless of gender and what is left is really Left!

Again ... JMNSHO ;)

I think McCain may be our best bet in 2008 even though I am not crazy about him.

Everyone say Cozzi Rice. I like her but she needs to be a governor for 4 years first. I would like to see her be a Senator in California and beat Boxer or Finestein.

"Hillary Won't Run in 2008"

That worthless POS nazi beeyotch hasn't "run" a day of her life.

Even if she ran...and managed somehow to get elected...she would "fail".

...going back to whistling innocently.....

Hillary would become a Republican if she thought that's what she needed to do in order to win.

The end justifies the means. It's the marxist dogma of the RAT party.

I expect a new VP to be appointed in about 2 years and they will be in a position to keep the Republicans in power. It could be Condi.

Watch for Illinois to turn red in 2006 when Feds indict Daley and put the vote-inventing machine out of order.

Interesting....IMHO..this is the start of a campaign by many on the left who don't want Hillary, to try and dissuade her in advance..the author's statement is prposterout..that she's decided NOT to run..but it's a way of planting the idea in public that she shouldn't. Did you see Dowd's column this weekend..the letter from her GOP brother..what it really was is a back door way of saying that Dowd doesn't want Hilalry to run either..

Well, there you go. I think Hillary can indeed win and she knows it, but the speculation and talk of inevitability are not in her interests right now. She can most certainly win the nomination if she runs, and a running mate like Evan Bayh will help her win Indiana and Ohio. I don't think anyone who voted for Kerry this year will not vote for Hillary. They'll be even more enthusiastic about her than they were about him. The Democrats and the media are going to be even hungrier in 2008 and will again pull out all the stops.

She is considered a good senator by liberal New York, so I don't think Giuliani will be a shoo in if he runs against her in 2006. I've also heard speculation that she doesn't even need to run in 2006 to win the nomination, and might not run for reelection. Even though she's an accomplished liar she will have to answer the question about whether she intends to run for president, so it might be more convenient to drop out and run full-time for president.

And who do the Republicans have? Republicans aren't really keen about the elderly McCain, who is anti-abortion, but seem to like Giuliani, who is pro-abortion and liberal on many social issues. Frist is dull and almost everyone but McCain and Giuliani are way, way below Hillary in name recognition. I really think she has a very good chance to win in 2008.

I have given a little thought about VP Cheney and boy, do you ever have a point there. Combine that scenario with Dr. Rice and you have a recipe for Republican supremacy for years to come.

I certainly hope you have that wired. ;)

" Watch for Illinois to turn red in 2006 when Feds indict Daley and put the vote-inventing machine out of order."

I don't know anything about that, but will be reading with interest.

She can win the same way her husband did: third party candidate.

She's most definitely too polarizing to win. But will that stop her from running? She's a leftwing Democrat after all, and they have no sense of reality.

But as time proceeds I believe the interest in Clinton will fade.

If Clinton had not had the "internet 90's" he would already be forgotton. His was the administration that doomed the democratic party to extinction. I agree Hillary cannot be a winner, but she will reinvent herself, and she will have the democratic party nomination when she wants it. (Does she want it? You needen't ask, she wants it and wild mustangs will not keep her from running.)

If Mcain is Smart enough to move to the right, and and if we are smart enough to nominate him, then it doesn't matter who libs run, we would win by a landslide.

Another liberal Republican like Nixon? Great...

Thats because it will be Rice on McCain's ticket.

If anyone at FR believes that America is going to elect a black female Republican for President, then you are setting us up to lose big time.

And Kerry lost, in great part, because he was running against Bush, who ran a great campaign, despite the constant painting of Bush as an idiot.

That's a big reason for their shock. They believed it.
