MONTROSE, Colo. - NBC Sports chairman Dick Ebersol survived a charter plane crash on takeoff Sunday at Montrose Regional Airport, the network said in a statement through its Denver affiliate KUSA-TV.

At least two people — the pilot and the co-pilot — died in the crash, according to the network.

Ebersol and two other people were seriously injured, and rescuers were searching for a person listed on the plane’s manifest whose seat from the plane was missing from the wreckage.

Oh, I forgot. The eyewitness said it was snowing, but visibility was good and there was no wind. He sounded somewhat knowledgeable about flying.

Maybe the witness was good at looking out of the window!!!

Snow, no wind and visibility does not make one an expert on flight.

I think Notre Dame has to relax its high academic standards and be able to sign the black athletes.

And just think, I don't have to back off, change my story or apologize to anyone. :-)

Hey, this is interesting.

The runway at Montrose is 10,000' long (field elevation 5759').

[This] website says the takeoff distance for the model 601-3R is 11,094' on a +20deg day at 5000'. For the model it's 9430' and for the "Global Express" model it's 8490'.

Sure, it wasn't a +20deg day, but isn't this cutting it a little close? (What do I know, I only fly Cessnas...)

He was in church at the time of the accident, "200 yards from the runway", and the pastor was a pilot.

I report, you decide...

His wife is actress Susan Saint James. He also gave those of us without MTV the show "Friday Night Videos" back in the early 1980's. Praying for all.
