Psalm 141: 2
Let my prayer be counted as incense before Thee,
and the lifting up of my hands as an evening sacrifice!

TOPICS: Culture/Society; Miscellaneous
KEYWORDS: praise; pray; prayforbushlist; presidentbush; thanksgiving
Holy Father,

We praise Your name this evening, Father, for You are the God of all creation. You are the God of power, the God of love, and the God of our salvation. Let our hearts be joyful in You as we give You all the praise and the glory due Your Mighty Name. Father, help us not to abandon our spirit of thankfulness that we have enjoyed as a nation this week, but keep our hearts humble and grateful for all Your blessings. We know that we are undeserving of all the good gifts You provide us, Father, but we thank You for them, and we praise You for Your faithfulness to us.

Father, we commit our country to You and ask that You would shine forth the light of Your Word upon this nation. Help us to seek Your forgiveness for placing other gods before You, and help us to humble ourselves and pray so that the joy of Your salvation may be restored in us. We need You, Father, lest we become encompassed by the materialism and the attitudes of this world. Help us to truly be reborn in You, that our lives may be changed to reflect Your love and Your teachings.

Hear our prayers for our President, Lord. Thank You that Jesus Christ dwells in his heart by faith and that he is rooted and grounded in Your love. Please let the eyes of his understanding be enlightened all the days of his life. Father, may he know You as his hope and heed the calling You have given him to serve this nation and to influence the world. Help him to seek the inheritance You have prepared for him in eternity and to know the mighty power of Jesus Christ in his life. Please give him all wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of You, and help him to resolve all issues as he seeks You in prayer.

Father, we pray that the works of evil would cease in Iraq and that stability and peace would prevail in the government there. Grant Your special blessings upon our men and women who serve to defend us, Lord. How we long to have them home with us, but we know that Your timing is perfect and Your ways are sure. We ask that You establish Your Word in the Middle East, Lord, that it may bring truth to those who dwell in darkness.

We need You and love You, Father. Thank You that You first loved us and that You have called us by name to be Yours. Please make Your presence known to us in America in a mighty way as we prepare our hearts to greet the Christ Child. May our prayers be counted as incense before You, and the lifting up of our hands as an evening sacrifice. In the strong and awesome Name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.

Heavenly Father,

At this time of year we pause to remember all that we have and recognize that it is because of Your grace and mercy. Thanksgiving reminds us of the harvest for which the Pilgrims were so thankful as well as their very survival through that first harsh year so we are mindful of the life and sustenance that You provide. And now we turn our eyes and hearts towards the celebration of the birth of the Christ Child and we are grateful for the Eternal Life that You offer through belief in Him as Your only begotten Son and our Savior. Lord, we are so unworthy and yet You are so good to us. We can offer You nothing in return but our praise and our service to You. Guide our steps direct us as You would have us to go that we may bring honor and glory to Your holy Name.

We are grateful that President Bush and his family have had this time of rest and fellowship one with another. We ask Your blessings on them this day and throughout the year. Let the President continue to hear Your voice above the clamor and heed Your words as he leads our nation and the world. Bestow upon him wisdom, courage, steadfastness, perseverance, humility, peace, patience, and love. Be his Shield from those who wish him harm and protect those who surround him and those who guard him.

Father, we earnestly desire the day when we won't have troops far away and in danger; but watch over those who defend our nation and fight for freedom for others. Many have been injured in recent fierce battles; reach out to them with Your healing touch. Others have seen horrors and cruel barbarity; give them peace of mind and spirit. Some gave their lives for the cause of liberty and our nation is grateful for such heroes; bring comfort to their grieving families.

Lord, too many in our nation have turned their backs on You in recent times and our nation has suffered. We have become less civil, more immoral, less concerned with others, and more concerned with self. We pray for revival in America that more and more will seek the Christ Child and will know and rejoice about His birth, life, and sacrificial death and resurrection. Let him be born in the hearts of many during this Christmas season that our beloved land may become once again one nation, under God. In His Name. Amen.

Lord, we indeed have much to be thankful for. You have allowed us to hold our position, at a critical time and against great odds. This frees us - and charges us - to do the ensuing grassroots work to undergird that position.

Each one must seek You wholeheartedly, in his own world. In all things and at all times Your Kingdom must be advanced, the days must be redeemed, for the time is short. Help us to be faithful to the given light, and give us the light we need to do the work. And if we are not worthy of such light, lift us up so that we are, for Your Name's sake.

There is no mistaking it, the election results present an opportunity for the people of God to advance. Though there is much enraged opposition, many have been awakened to the realities of spiritual warfare and the moral struggle. And once again, as with the Superbowl episode last January, and "gay" "marriage" more recently, the enemy has again overplayed his hand in this week's school banning of the Declaration of Independence. If we respond correctly, much damage is going to be done to his errant cause as people realize that our foundations are under concerted assault.

Some of this advance will be on the political level, but its true strength will always be on the personal. Therefore I ask that You send revival to Your church, and personal revival to individuals, so that their world can be changed, one heart, one life, one family and community, at a time, and in the aggregate transforming the culture, the nation, and then the world.

Christmas season has begun in earnest. I ask that this be a special one, in which the Spirit of Christ trumps commercialism, where the gravity of the costly sacrificial position of our troops is uppermost in everyone's mind. For they do not fight alone; we are with them in spirit, to see them through to victory. This year may the Prince of Peace make Himself known in a profound way to all, and may the contrast between Him and the false systems of the world be plain to all, to His glory.

Purify Your church, O Lord, and draw us to You. Comfort all who mourn. And heal us. Make the way plain before us, that we might be faithful and fruitful for You. You are worthy of all praise, honor, and dedication.

AMEN FAITH AND AMEN ALL!
GOD LORD'S DAY AND GRACE TO YOU!

Ps 92:1 A Psalm. A Song for the Sabbath day. It is good to give thanks to the LORD, And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High;
2 To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning, And Your faithfulness every night,
3 On an instrument of ten strings, On the lute, And on the harp, With harmonious sound.
4 For You, LORD, have made me glad through Your work; I will triumph in the works of Your hands.
5 O LORD, how great are Your works! Your thoughts are very deep.
6 A senseless man does not know, Nor does a fool understand this.
7 When the wicked spring up like grass, And when all the workers of iniquity flourish, It is that they may be destroyed forever.
8 But You, LORD, are on high forevermore.
9 For behold, Your enemies, O LORD, For behold, Your enemies shall perish; All the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.
10 But my horn You have exalted like a wild ox; I have been anointed with fresh oil.
11 My eye also has seen my desire on my enemies; My ears hear my desire on the wicked Who rise up against me.
12 The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
13 Those who are planted in the house of the LORD Shall flourish in the courts of our God.
14 They shall still bear fruit in old age; They shall be fresh and flourishing,
15 To declare that the LORD is upright; He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.
(NKJV)

"For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth
that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth."
- 3 John 3

The truth was in Gaius, and Gaius walked in the truth. If the first had
not been the case, the second could never have occurred; and if the second
could not be said of him the first would have been a mere pretence. Truth
must enter into the soul, penetrate and saturate it, or else it is of no
value. Doctrines held as a matter of creed are like bread in the hand,
which ministers no nourishment to the frame; but doctrine accepted by the
heart, is as food digested, which, by assimilation, sustains and builds up
the body. In us truth must be a living force, an active energy, an
indwelling reality, a part of the woof and warp of our being. If it be in
us, we cannot henceforth part with it. A man may lose his garments or his
limbs, but his inward parts are vital, and cannot be torn away without
absolute loss of life. A Christian can die, but he cannot deny the truth.
Now it is a rule of nature that the inward affects the outward, as light
shines from the centre of the lantern through the glass: when, therefore,
the truth is kindled within, its brightness soon beams forth in the
outward life and conversation. It is said that the food of certain worms
colours the cocoons of silk which they spin: and just so the nutriment
upon which a man's inward nature lives gives a tinge to every word and
deed proceeding from him. To walk in the truth, imports a life of
integrity, holiness, faithfulness, and simplicity-the natural product of
those principles of truth which the gospel teaches, and which the Spirit
of God enables us to receive.
We may judge of the secrets of the soul by their manifestation in the
man's conversation.
Be it ours to-day, O gracious Spirit, to be ruled and governed by thy
divine authority, so that nothing false or sinful may reign in our hearts,
lest it extend its malignant influence to our daily walk among men.
