Blame the morons, not the messenger(FR mention)

Blame the morons, not the messenger Tuesday, November 23, 2004 An unfortunate byproduct of George W. Bush's political strategy is that his success has depended on moving the base of the Republican Party down into a demographic that should by all rights be Democratic.

That's right, I'm talking about the moron vote.

This was best illustrated by that recent incident in Fallujah in which a cameraman caught on tape the shooting of an Iraqi prisoner by a U.S. Marine. The Marine apparently presumed the Iraqi was pretending to be dead for the purpose of preparing a later ambush. Now the Marine has been removed from duty and may be court-martialed.

Who do you blame for that sort of thing? If you're intelligent, you blame the commander in chief -- you know, that slick politician who when he first ran for the presidency promised he would never get U.S. soldiers into the type of nation- building boondoggle in which such incidents become inevitable.

But if you're a moron, you blame the cameraman. That's been the response among many Bush supporters on talk radio and in chat rooms all over the Internet. One such site was the Free Republic, which used to be a bastion of intelligent conservative comment until Bush dumbed down conservatism.

That's the first sign of a Leftist moron right there. Couldn't be bothered to read the bilge after that point.

Morons at Freerepublic? I seem to recall that one of those "morons" was quite a bit more intelligent than the document "experts" hired by CBS. What does that say for Dan Rather, undoubtedly a "Hero" of this author?

Wow! This passes for news? Does it even pass for an opinion column? How come, Dear Mr. Reporter, the MS hasn't reported that marines have been killed by insurgents faking death or injury? How come the MSM didn't report that the self-same marine in the video was injured by one such combatant just the day prior? How come the MS represents that the Geneva Convention was violated, when the insurgents don't themselves obey the provisions of the accord, and are therefore not under its protection? War is hell, and nobody expected otherwise. If you though Bush told the world the war would be a walk in the park, you're the moron, not us.

"Who do you blame for that sort of thing? If you're intelligent, you blame the commander in chief..."

So Pikamax, WWII, Battle of the Bulge, Market Garden, Anzio.........etc, by inference, this means FDR should have been strung up by his thumbs, tortured and executed........RIGHT?!

Could you have bitten on anything more obtuse?

Historic comparison and proportion is not your forte' I guess.

Spencer: Left in the carnage of Election 2004...

And so reviewing the aftermath of the 2004 election, let’s start with..

The LOSERS..

JOHN KERRY -- Obviously. He’s been running for president of the United States since he was a freshman at Yale. He went to Vietnam, to participate in a war he had no faith in or desire to fight in order to make his bones. He lasted four months and came home to lead an anti-war movement that slandered his country and his fellow soldiers. Still, in liberal Massachusetts, he managed to get himself elected to the U.S. Senate. He positioned and prepared himself to get his party’s nomination for the presidency only to have the White House snatched away from him at the last moment. He’s the Jay Gatsby of American politics, only without the romantic vision, reaching for the brass ring that barely exceeded his grasp.

JOHN EDWARDS -- Some Democrats believe he is now well-positioned to run for president in 2008. Please! He couldn’t even deliver his home state of North Carolina. His incredible claim that if John Kerry were elected president people like Christopher Reeve would be getting up out of their wheelchairs and walking, will not be forgotten. But he really showed what he is during his debate with Dick Cheney.

Kerry was crucified for mentioning Mary Cheney’s lesbianism during his last debate. But at least it seemed to stick in his craw. John Edward’s oily reference to it during his go round with Dick Cheney made my skin crawl. Condescendingly congratulating the vice president, a man 20 years his senior, for loving his daughter despite her sexual orientation, Edwards oozed pure, unadulterated sleaze.

3. THE BUSH-HATERS -- Foreign billionaire/financier George Soros, millionaire propagandist Michael Moore, Al Franken, Eminem, Alec Baldwin, Howard Stern et al. Now that this election is over, to steal another Gatsby reference, they can retreat into their money, or their vast carelessness, or whatever it is that holds them together and leave the running of the country to the grown-ups.

4. ACTIVIST JUDGES -- As I read somewhere else, The Supreme Court once again selected George Bush president. This year though, it was the Massachusetts Supreme Court. Their finding a right in their state constitution to same-sex marriage offended millions and energized a national movement. Referendums banning same-sex marriage passed in 11 states, drawing traditionalists to the polls in record numbers. These judges are at war with a self-ruling democracy, and democracy is fighting back.

5. DEMOCRATS -- Enough said.

6. LITTLER LOSERS -- Ex-Daily Times Sound-Off man Paul Mulshine (a case of Penn Pilsner), Ex-Daily Times reporter Pat Burns (dinner at Outback), and Ex-Media Mayor and Michael Moore fan Frank Daly (a six-pack of Sierra Nevada).

THE WINNERS ..

1. GEORGE BUSH -- He risked his presidency to fight not one but two wars of liberation halfway around the world. He freed 25 million people in Afghanistan from the barbaric rule of the Taliban, and we saw real democratic elections held for the first time in the history of that country. In Iraq, deposing one of the most murderous dictators the Middle East has ever seen. He now claims a mandate to press his foreign policy and domestic agendas. He will and should reach out to reasonable Democrats. But he shouldn’t compromise his principles or those of his party to placate the angry opposition.

2. REPUBLICANS -- They picked up four U.S. Senate seats and took the House of Representatives by an even larger majority. What they do with it is up to them.

3. HILLARY CLINTON -- John Kerry’s loss leaves 2008 open for her to run to become the first female president of the United States. But she’ll lose. The first female commander-in-chief of this country will be a Republican and a conservative. Hillary Clinton, her contempt for all things military well-known, is neither.

4. VIETNAM VETS -- For 33 years, they lived with the memory of Lt. John Kerry’s declaration that they were war criminals, rapists, torturers, and monsters "reminiscent of Genghis Kahn." They watched him rise to become a U.S. senator, based, in part, on those lies about their service and his own. They lived under the cloud of the anti-war movement that John Kerry helped lead a movement that mocked their sacrifices on behalf of this country and the South Vietnamese people. They watched John Kerry win the Democratic nomination to become the nation’s commander-in-chief. And finally they said "enough."

Thousands of them contributed to and supported the Swiftboat Veterans for Truth and the POWs who testified in the documentary "Stolen Honor" to John Kerry’s lies and betrayals. In the five days before the election, despite the Kerry campaign’s best efforts to suppress it, "Stolen Honor" was shown 31 times in Ohio alone. If any one group denied John Kerry this election, it was these guys. These old soldiers refused to just fade away.

Balding, gimpy and with growing waistlines, they reported for duty for the last big fight of their lives.

And they won it.

This is so typical and so sad. Just another angry lib blaming his defeat on those "moronic" Americans who happened to DARE reject liberalism.

He masks his fear of Free Republic by calling us stupid. But in truth, FReepers are his worst nightmare.

Me, I blame the Iraqi terroristprisoner. With all the ambushes by enemies feigning death, any Iraqi prisoner who is not actively surrendering, visibly unarmed (i.e. nude), and with hands in air, should be shot just as a matter of troop safety. I would have shot him too.

Put another way: if the enemy in Iraq doesn't want to be shot while pretending to be dead, they should stop trying to attack our boys while pretending to be dead (or pretending to surrender, or whatever).

If we really want to get rid of a big portion of the "moron vote" then we need to exclude voters who aren't taxpayers. Oh no, wait, that means most Dim voters would be excluded. Never mind.

If they are not the same person why are you busting his chops?

"And the message out of the Bush White House a year-and- a-half after the Iraq invasion continues to be "the dog ate my postwar plan.""

That dog won't hunt. At worst, it still beats this guy's hero who could only wag the dog -- one of the main reasons we are in this war.
