This is my newest article in The Skyline View, the newspaper at my community college just outside San Francisco. It is a ProLife article. I have been working up to getting this published and I am happy how it turned out. I left out most Christian refernces in an attempt to reach a broader audience. Please let me know what you think!! Also thanks to-- SeenTheLight --for her help on my last few articles. Please thank her for helping me out. I am getting a lot better at writing because of her help! Because of her and a few others I have gotten 3 articles published in this largely liberal college newspaper. Here it is--
Who will stop the Genocide? Abortion is not the answer.
In Webster's New World Dictionary, genocide is described as, "the deliberate destruction of a national, racial, religious ...or other groups defined by the exterminators as undesirable." According to the Center for Bio-Ethical Reform, more than 40 million "undesirable" babies have been killed in the United States since abortion was legalized in 1973. Planned Parenthood puts the number of abortions each year in America at 1.31 million.
What has happened to this country? When did our moral values get so twisted that murdering a child became an acceptable means of birth control? As a Christian, I believe that all God's children should be protected. However, if you are not a Christian, there are many reasons to stand against abortion.
As early as eight weeks, you can see the beginnings of the human form of the fetus. It is the size of a quarter. According to a study published in The British Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the heartbeat of an unborn child is detectable as early as the 25th day.

Todd
You say that at 8 weeks the unborn child starts to take on human form. Below is a photo of a child at 7 weeks of development. Human form is already evident as is a heart beat, brain function, and some studies show that the child can feel pain as early as 7.5 weeks. Yet 77% of all abortions are committed at 7 weeks or later.
Well done!

Looks like somebody aborted your article.
So a woman is not biologically ready when she is ready? Give me a break! When the ovaries start releasing ovum and periods start coming, guess what? You can get pregnant? If the body isn't quite ready, 99% of the time a spontaneous miscarriage happens. Just because a girl is 13 doesn't mean she can't be a mother.
Think about Mary, the mother of the Lord Jesus Christ. She was young, maybe 12 or 13. Our culture has become sin sick in that we want to kill the innocent instead of protecting them.
By this standard, that we kill the innocent for any reason, is killing our society and God is not amuzed.
Sure it isn't easy raising a kid at that age, sure, the girls choices in life are changed (becoming a mother is a full time calling). But by the standard of killing the innocent out of convenience (and that is what 99% of abortions are), we kill our Beethoven's, Einsteins, Salk's and Curries. We are aborting our legacies and family lines.
Rather than taking the side of death, Choose Life. Choose to help a young girl become a mother. Teach her to raise this precious life with integrity and compassion. Who knows, this child may become the next Mother Teresa or Billy Graham, invent the cure for cancer or rid the world of AIDs. What do you know?
Very good. For your next article I would suggest you include data comparing the abortion rates between the races. It will open some eyes.
A 13 year old's body is designed to "tolerate" it. The mother is much safer being pregnant at 13 than at age 40.
Throughout human history 13 has been a normal age for one's first delivery.
I had originally had lower numbers, but I couldn't find studies in published journals. I didn't want to do to much quoting from sites that are ProLife. Thanks for the info though!
try it again, I just clicked it and it came up. maybe there was a connection problem. I put most of the article in the post anyways!
Always happy to help :-)
