Good Article Todd! Now for your follow up; Interview FReeper's, and note if they are male or female responders to your question: WHY do people have abortions?
It's a very personal topic and from my experience with "those that chose" abortions,(teenagers mainly)they're babies having babies. Can you imagine a 13 year old having a baby? Once they are pregnant, do you think their bodies could tolerate it? Not to mention the emotional trauma involved. Of course there are ways to prevent it and abstinence is the best, but not every one has a loving parent to guide them in as you say the Christian way. (And Christian teens get pregnant too.) I don't advocate abortions, (especially at taxpayer's expense), but I do know if you consider it a sin, God forgives all sinners. How do we know what we would do, in that situation? We aren't to judge others, and should help with a solution.

Young women in other cultures are married and have children at the age of 12 or so. Consider the emotional trauma these girls could have for the rest of their lives if they choose an abortion. I have two daughters. We are a christian family. My oldest became pregnant at 19. She is married to the father and we have a precious grandson. Not all situations turn out this well. We are truly blessed. If God did not intend for every pregnancy, there would not be a pregnancy. Only God gives life. He has a plan for every baby born, and He has a plan for every baby aborted. Rape or incest is a true tragedy. God still has THE plan. Just my opinion.

So a woman is not biologically ready when she is ready? Give me a break! When the ovaries start releasing ovum and periods start coming, guess what? You can get pregnant? If the body isn't quite ready, 99% of the time a spontaneous miscarriage happens. Just because a girl is 13 doesn't mean she can't be a mother.

Think about Mary, the mother of the Lord Jesus Christ. She was young, maybe 12 or 13. Our culture has become sin sick in that we want to kill the innocent instead of protecting them.

By this standard, that we kill the innocent for any reason, is killing our society and God is not amuzed.

Sure it isn't easy raising a kid at that age, sure, the girls choices in life are changed (becoming a mother is a full time calling). But by the standard of killing the innocent out of convenience (and that is what 99% of abortions are), we kill our Beethoven's, Einsteins, Salk's and Curries. We are aborting our legacies and family lines.

Rather than taking the side of death, Choose Life. Choose to help a young girl become a mother. Teach her to raise this precious life with integrity and compassion. Who knows, this child may become the next Mother Teresa or Billy Graham, invent the cure for cancer or rid the world of AIDs. What do you know?

A 13 year old's body is designed to "tolerate" it. The mother is much safer being pregnant at 13 than at age 40.

Throughout human history 13 has been a normal age for one's first delivery.
