CNN Hires New President for Its U.S. News Group (The guy who made the bloggers in pajamas comment!)

NEW YORK (Reuters) - CNN News Group on Monday said it has tapped an online media CEO as its new president overseeing U.S. news, just a little over a year after it hired a former local TV newsman to run its domestic operations.

Jonathan Klein, founder and chief executive officer of The FeedRoom Inc., a high-speed Internet news network and video streamer, will assume the role of head of U.S. news operations, answering to CNN President Jim Walton.

CNN is the cable news unit of Time Warner Inc.

"Six years steeped in the digital information industry have helped me understand today's news consumers in ways never before available to media executives," Klein said in a statement.

Klein replaces Princell Hair, who was appointed to oversee the U.S. news group in September 2003. Industry analysts questioned whether Hair, who ran Viacom Inc.'s television stations and was a former TV news director in Los Angeles and Baltimore, was the best candidate to run one of the world's most prestigious news networks.

Hair will assume a new role as senior vice president of program and talent development across the CNN News Group.

Klein was the former executive director of CBS News, with oversight of its flagship "60 Minutes" program.

Just too funny...so CNN would rather be grouped with old media by hiring someone clueless about the new media as it's news head. No matter, I rarely watch CNN anyway.

Let me repeat that ...

The guy who made the bloggers in pajamas comment!

Yes, call it Old Media or Main Stream Media; either way it's the gift that keeps on giving. It must irk him no end that we "wear" his comment as a badge of honor.

Jonathan Klein

A major-league, self-important, pretentious prick.

In the USSR, he would have been a party commissar.

Too funny! Let's hound him 'til he's having nightmares about bloggers in pajamas. Scrutinize every word that comes out of his division -- can't take too long to embarrass him. Pajama-bloggers, LET'S ROLL!

. . . and they'll keep on hiring new guys 'til they get one who can infiltrate foreign correspondents into the red states.

I guess Rick Kaplan of MSNBC wasn't available yet. He won't be fired until early 2005.

You know, you think the GW Bush romp at the polls would have at least given these idiots a moment to pause and reflect on their view of the world. No such luck. The Democrat Party like secular American Jews and politically powerless Blacks has a death wish!!! And...I for one say...good riddance!!! CNN is, and will continue to be toast!!! The good for our guys news is that American Jews are coming around, and so are American Blacks!!!

Kaplan already did his Tour of Doody at CNN. It was under Kaplan's reign there that CNN's ratings fell through the floor, they were caught airing the totally false Tailwind story, and Lou Dobbs quit after Kaplan directly ordered Dobbs to give over his own airtime to a meaningless live photo op of Bill Clinton during the Lewinsky/Impeachment mess, because Kaplan is an FOB and wanted to make Clinton look good.
