Why Bush Has No Fear [Krauthammer]
Time Magazine ^ | November 22, 2004 | Charles Krauthammer

There is an unusual feature to the second Bush Administration that is extraordinarily important but has been almost entirely overlooked. For the first time in a half-century, a two-term presidency will end without sending out its Vice President to seek a mandate for succession at the next election. Vice President Cheney will not run for the presidency, and everyone knows it. When these eight years are over, the Bush-Cheney Administration will simply close up shop.

With all the threatening news being posted the past few days, this is a breath of fresh air.

IMHO, GWB has a mandate from GOD, and he knows it. I pray our Lord keeps an army of angels around him always.

I think it would take a woman republican to defeat Hillary. I think too, that black Americans will vote in large numbers for Condi(I'm not sure if a majority will).

Hispanics and Arabs will vote against Rice. Married white women will go for Rice...singles against. A lot of white men will vote for a strong leader black or white, but we'll lose some of the racists(we don't need them any way). Christian evangelicals will go for her though in a big way!

Rice in 2008?
It has been a very long time since a Secretary of State was elected POTUS.

But before the Civil War there were a number of them - which made sense considering that the federal government was created for foreign affairs - protection from the British and the War of 1812 in particular. In modern times the Democratic Party has essentially taken an "it's the economy, stupid" attitude to its relationship to foreign affairs.

Oh, God, I think about that too, and I hope and pray that the security people are on top of this. I'm quite confident that they are - I have the utmost faith in them.

But in this atmosphere where Bush is routinely portrayed as a warmonger and modern-day Hitler, it's a shame we even have to consider the possibility.

So many people have stoked the fires of hate. Including those who many USED TO respect.

God bless George Bush!

re: Rice in 2008

Amen! I can't think of a single person I would rather see head the Republican ticket in 2008. This one amazing woman and she deserves the nomination. A lot can change between now and then, but for now it's Rice for me!

Our family favors tax reform, but, state and local taxes set us back every year much more than the federal income tax. State income taxes, property taxes and inventory tax really hurt us as small business owners. I think the fair tax is a logical first step but wonder what are the implications for state and local taxes.

I like Condi, but I prefer Sanford. Make Condi VP so she can serve as a foreign policy advisor to Sanford, who, being a Governor wouldn't have much experience in that area.

This is why Bill Clinton was so distraught and angry. He will forever be remembered as the administration before that of GW Bush.

Good analysis. We already figured that out, but it's nice to see it in print.

Charles K. A scholar and a gentleman. He is the best pundint on Special Report. Whenever we see him on there we consider him the "anchor." Sometimes he looks at Juan or CICI when they are talking and you can tell he's gonna unload. Politely and soft spoken always of course...but..unload nonetheless in such a way they usually don't try to rebut cause "they can't." Charles is the man.
