President Bush stepped into the middle of a confrontation and pulled his lead Secret Service agent away from Chilean security officials who barred his bodyguards from entering an elegant dinner for 21 world leaders Saturday night.
Several Chilean and American agents got into a pushing and shoving match outside the cultural center where the dinner was held. Bush noticed the fracas after posing for pictures on a red carpet with the summit host, Chilean President Ricardo Lagos and his wife and first lady Laura Bush.
I was concerned before, but watching the video shows that things were very wrong.
Even after Bush went back, he physically had to pull his SS agent through the Chilean security guys, trying to prevent his entrance.

Some of the articles actually mentioned that :
"For a few seconds Bush met resistance from the Chilean officers."
(See post 750 for article)
Your prayer, and all our prayers may well have been what kept President Bush safe.
Keep it up. Monday he is going to Colombia.
I tend to agree that there could possibly have been an attempt on President Bush and his quick actions prevented his own assassination.
It is probably a mistake, but it illustrates how quickly a situation can turn into chaos.
As highly trained and professional the SS folks are, it is the everyday exposure to that level of threat that is one problem, they can get desensitized to it to some degree.
We all need to pray for our President Bush.
What I think doesn't matter, but I said as much in post #792.
According to the Chilenos, our Secret Service knew the plan and agreed to the plan 6 months ago. Leaders only enter the main door, security enters the building elsewhere. Either we should have clearly communicated and gotten agreement on an exception, or President Bush should not have attended.
To me, it looks like the communication broke down somewhere. Either we forgot that our SS guys couldn't go through the front door, or the Chilenos are lying about the agreement (that every other country attending the summit was following).
I just hooked up my backup computer and watched the video. If the guys were hellbent on violence against President Bush, they could have taken him right when he walked through the door. I'm chalking it up to miscommunication between two hyper-sensitive security details. I can't even imagine the pressure of holding, and attending, an economic summit like that with all those anarchist freaks poised for trouble.
No problem, I just try to keep positive fun energy from being tainted by "F.U.D.".
My "suspicion meter" is at code red.
I would give a pile of money to hear what the Prez was muttering as he walked away. :)
I am asking you to exercise your common sense. If you do that, I think you will have to agree that the President is safer with agents protecting his front and his rear when he is entering an area such as a room. Given that, I really don't care what the Chileans say or what any other leaders agreed to. Those other people aren't the President of the United States, which means that, whatever the Chileans are saying, they were way out of line - a fact which is perhaps best demonstrated by what the President ended up having to do vis-a-vis the Chilean police.
What makes you think SS guys aren't carrying guns?
President Bush was reaching over the backs of the Chileans. They didn't know it was him. The woman in the red with the pigtail is another SS manager (I saw her at the debates) and she got in and defused the situation right before Bush got there. It wasn't anything ominous to me. It looked like one of those hockey scrums where all ten skaters converge as one to any confrontation before things get hashed out. No harm, no foul IMO. Regards.
A little FUD now and then isn't necessarily bad. :O)
You said yourself you didn't watch the video.
Figure out a way to do it, and watch it.
Come to think of it, GW could have been in greater danger were he attending a Detroit Piston's game.
Why do I have the suspicion that you also support the UN?
Ummm...I'm all about common sense, and I've posted it several times. I don't need to repeat myself.
ROFLLL
OMG yeah you got the point there LOL!!
Or today Clemon vs South Caroliona game LOL!
Because you're paranoid?
I hooked up my backup computer and watched it.
I subscribe to your take.
