I agree: the ACLU needs to be stopped. But letters and marches will do nothing. (Sorry to rain on the parade.)

Even if you were to flood their mail boxes with ten million letters and mobilize hundreds of "million-man marches", what do you think that will accomplish? Do you expect the ACLU activists to simply say, "Gee, we must be wrong. I guess we'll just close our offices and quit."?

Witness the aftermath of the last election: 59 million people voted for President Bush, voted for Republican congressional representatives, and voted to ban homosexual "marriage." Yet, did the Left get the message? Have they finally realized that they are on the wrong side of the issues? No. They arrogantly proclaimed that all those 59 million Americans are simply stupid yokels, and that if only the residents of "fly-over" America were as "enlightened" as the big city intellectuals, then the Democrats would have won.

Yes, it's time to shut down the ACLU. But don't expect them to go willingly just because we ask them to. The only way I see an end to the ACLU is if the Federal Government prosecutes them for aiding and facilitating terrorist and criminal activities (i.e., their associations with Al Qaeda and NAMBLA). Unfortunately, this will not happen anytime in the foreseeable future, particularly with Bush appointing Alberto Gonzales as the new Attorney General.

Making noise is the first step. If we continue to sit on our backsides and hope the Federal Government will do something...we are handing our First Amendment Rights over to someone else to tell us how to exercise them.

Let us not forget the effectiveness of protests as demonstrated by the change in regulations, court rulings, etc. that have not been to the benefit of the United States.

I agree. The only way to eliminate this anti-God cartel is through lawsuits. Hit them where it hurts; their pocketbooks.

A class action suit brought by the many municipalities they've screwed over the past twenty years may be the way to go.

The I think it's the AJLU that is the counter group to the ACLU. Does anyone here have a contact w/ that group?

It's an outrage that US laws, apparently passed during the Watergate era, allows the ACLU to collect attorney's fees for makework----Christian-hating cases it itself launches.

That means "values voters" have been footing the bill the ACLU's launching a juggernaut in removing Ten Commandment images, Pledge of Allegiance, Christmas creche and Christmas carol cases, and because they claim they have a civil right not to see the Ten Commandments, a civil right not to hear the word “God” in the Pledge of Allegiance, not to see a creche of the Baby Jesus, not to hear Christmas carols.

They have a collected a huge amount of our tax dollars, a left-handed fundraiser for the ACLU. Congress must repeal laws enabling the ACLU. FReepers can silence the ACLU with a bit of activism.

We need to insist our Congressmen repeal this abusive law that allows the ACLU to get rich on harassing Christian America.

Cut off the ACLU's funds and watch them disappear.

Sorry if I'm being/sounding a bit naieve about this - - -But John Ashcroft is the AG now, why can't he start an investigation before he leaves (the Dims hate him already). Also, doesn't the ACLU have tax exempt status? Anything that can be done there?

I know many of you don't like Bill O'Reilly, but he voices strong opinions against the ACLU and Michael Savage denounces them all the time - - maybe some help from the not-so-MSM??
