There wasn't a fight or racial argument in my school and my school was pretty intergrated. One thing doesn't have to do wiith the other.

Oh, we did have 'names' (slurs) for kids from other schools. Folks from the bayou we called 'shrimp-pickers' and from the east bay, they were 'potato-pickers' and so forth. LOL

An "integrated" school on Lawn Guyland? When I attended Valley Stream public schools in the 1980s there were NO blacks to speak of even though they could have easily bussed them in from all directions (Alden Manor, Lakeview, etc.). This was true of many other schools on the South Shore at the time.

Today, however, Valley Stream has become "little Guyana," with Guyanese Indians, West Indian Blacks, and Dominicans replacing the aging white (largely Italian or Jewish, depending on what section of town).
