Among naval vessels, a submarine is the least-tolerant to heavy use and is the most intolerant of poor maintenance.

A rusted pressure hull and "software glitches" should have warned the Canadian Navy against this purchase.

- The used vessel could not "snort" - the navy's term for drawing in fresh air while traveling at full power just below the ocean surface during an emergency.
- The warship could not dive to it's maximum depth because rust had rendered portions of its pressure hull vulnerable to collapse.

- An Editor could not spot improper use of "it's" (twice) in a National Post article.

The Liberals can't even fund working equipment for the Canadian Royal Armed Forces but they can waste $1 billion and counting on a gun registry boondoggle. Its all a matter of priorities.
