Rust? No sacrificial props? No cathodic protection?
Not too smart of the UK, but then Canada supports terrorists, so this is good.

"...had trouble drawing in fresh air, could not dive to certain depths and suffered from computer bugs..."Sounds like the Canadian government.

Among naval vessels, a submarine is the least-tolerant to heavy use and is the most intolerant of poor maintenance.
A rusted pressure hull and "software glitches" should have warned the Canadian Navy against this purchase.

reveal a litany of problems, including:
- The used vessel could not "snort" - the navy's term for drawing in fresh air while traveling at full power just below the ocean surface during an emergency.
- The warship could not dive to it's maximum depth because rust had rendered portions of its pressure hull vulnerable to collapse. - An Editor could not spot improper use of "it's" (twice) in a National Post article.

The Canadians were never going to use the submarine anyway, so why bother? For that matter, why not just get a rowboat and paint the word SUBMARINE on it in large block type?

Does this mean that the Canadians are going to have to (shudder) rely on US military protection from now on???

The Liberals can't even fund working equipment for the Canadian Royal Armed Forces but they can waste $1 billion and counting on a gun registry boondoggle. Its all a matter of priorities.
