Wounded U.S. Soldier -- Keeps Fighting -- Reassures Mom.

Hi, I just got off the phone with my son Nathan in Iraq. The reason he called was to tell me he had been wounded today in a battle. He is okay, praise the Lord. He said they were in a horrible battle this morning and all of a sudden something hit him and knocked him to the ground. His buddy asked if he was okay, and Nathan, being Nathan said yes, he was ok. The bullet went in the chest side of his right armpit. He packed it with a dressing (since he is the medic he has the stuff he needs with him) and continued to fight in this fierce battle, using his weapon for the next 6 hours!
Meanwhile his camies were turning noticibly red on his right side. After the battle, they tried to extract the bullet, but after what he said was "too much probing" they decided to leave it in and just pack it and let it heal, just making sure it had not grazed his lung.
He spoke to his commanding officer and requested not to go anywhere for sick leave and recuperation since he is the senior corpsman and the other guys need him. He is the one that has to make the decisions on what to do with all the other wounded. He does not work out of a hospital, he is on the front lines fighting side by side with the Marines and patching them up when they get wounded.
Tomorrow he will be out on the line with the Marines again as they patrol and engage the enemy. Pray for him that his pain will not be too bad and he will heal quickly. His last words to me before we said goodby were "Don't worry Mom, God is in control."
Amen!
Oh, dear--what a wonderful son you have. My thoughts are with you both.....
I'm glad to hear your son is okay, but I didn't know medics fought.
Prayers....
Where do we find people like this? I don't know, but I'm certainly thankful that we do.
Semper Fidelis.
yes they do fight.... they carry a med kit. and weapon of "choice"...used to be a handgun, but I've been told that anything in a fight is better than nothing. Also if they are shooting at you and your guys are laying lead downrange, it's best to have something to add to the mix.
Please let Brenda know we are praying for her son. These young soldiers are simply the best of the best.
Made in America. God Bless Him.
This soldier knows the right answer. God is in control even when we don't think things are going the way they should. Keep the faith Mom, just like your son.
My daughter is 11 and I pray she meets and marries a real man like this someday. God bless him and all the troops!
I will add your son to my prayer list. God bless him.
Bless him. God certainly has blessed us with people like this young man willing to sacrifice for our country.
I'll pray for him and his family.
We all wish him well.
Is this a great Country, or what?...
This soldier is quite a man. I think I need HIS prayers more than he needs mine. May my son grow up to be like him.
It is the son of a lady who goes to my church.
Amen!
Why don't these worthless imbedded reporters give us the good stories like this? Or maybe they report, but the anti-US MSM doesn't want Americans to appreciate the courage and good work these men do.
