However, I find humor in the fact that Condi Rice has more brains and class in her toenail then Oliphant could ever even imagine.

The parade of the exposed liberal Democrats rages on. The more insulting and mean spirited it becomes, the more eyes that are opened.

Personally, I find Condi high on my list of admired people that I am frequently in awe of. If I had a tenth of her mind I'd think myself brilliant.

Actually the more racist cartoon is by Danziger at the NY Times. Condoleeza Rice is holding an aluminum tube used for nuclear reactors and saying "I knows nothing about aluminum tubes." This pays homage to the black slave in Gone with the Wind. NYT has pulled cartoon but if you google right you can find it.

I don't think it does, I say this only in the sense that one can argue that it shows a woman or black woman subserviant to a man.

See, but the thing is... she IS subserviant to a man. I'm sure she voices her opinion, but if W says, "Condi, get this done!", I'll bet she does it. She DOES have prominant front teeth.

So are we mad because it portrays her accurately (admittedly, with a bit of a "bite") or are we mad because the guy tagged her with a bunch of stereotypes?

If someone portrayed me with overly large glasses and barefeet, saying to my husband, "Yes, dear", it wouldn't be insulting because it comes too close to the truth. I wouldn't get outraged on behalf of all womanhood because someone had the nerve to draw a woman, barefoot, being subserviant to a man. We're smarter than this and we're losing our sense of humor.

The cartoons about Condi should encourage us. The media is attempting to convince people that Condi is a witless mouthpiece. She disproves that every single time she is shown speaking on tv.

I would suspect his syndicated cartoons would appear in most of the fishwraps we're familiar with, LATimes(and other Trib papers), NYTimes, WaPost, etc.

I haven't seen an Oliphant cartoon outside of FR in years. But then I haven't subscribed to a news(?)paper in years either.

Pat Oliphant has crossed the line. He is openly racist. If the MSM gives him a pass on this it will be one more reason they've rendered themselves irrevelent and "out of touch" with America. He should publicly apologize to Dr. Rice and the President.

Sierra, I'm honestly not trying to be a contrarian. And again, I think the toon is repugnant leftist drivel. But I do NOT see racism in it. It's obviously a caricature of Rice, and I do not see anything more exaggerated about her lips or other features than is typical in any caricature of anyone. I think perhaps we too have become FAR too sensitive on the issue of race. Just because the idiotic left would cry it doesn't mean we should.

BTW, I found another cartoon on a foreign web site that seemed to be credited to the NYTimes. Same caricature. I can't make out what Condi is saying or the little blurb in the lower left corner. It seems to have been stretched some and lost its resolution.
