Setback to US image in war

CAIRO – The killing of a wounded and apparently unarmed Iraqi by a US marine, videotaped by an embedded reporter from NBC on Saturday and broadcast around the world, is stirring anger in the Middle East and elsewhere. That anger, reminiscent of the outcry that followed the release of torture photos from Abu Ghraib prison, is the latest upsurge in a propaganda war that the US has been embroiled in from the get-go in Iraq. US officials say an investigation has begun.

The act itself, perhaps a result of the fog of war, perhaps an act of revenge, represents a key challenge for the Marines. Keenly aware that US excesses in the past have turned global opinion against the war in Iraq, and thereby threatened US strategic objectives, commanders repeatedly have warned their subordinates not to shoot unarmed or seriously injured men.

Somehow I don't think the citizens of Fallujah are going to shed any tears over one less terrorist/insurgent in their city.

Who said he was wounded and unarmed? there is additional tape showing in fact they were faking being dead because just after this guys get shot his buddy quits faking put up his hands and surrenders... at is not shot

The thing is they chose not to surrender and they chose to fake being dead when the Marines got close ...they were combatants, they did have weapon in that building, and if they chose to stay in the fight by playing dead when surrounded you would expect the would have also have some weapon they have hidden on there body in case someone got close

"The killing of a wounded and apparently unarmed Iraqi by a US marine, videotaped by an embedded reporter from NBC on Saturday and broadcast around the world, is stirring anger in the Middle East and elsewhere"

What a load of nonsense! Are these the same A**HOLES in the Mideast who openly rejoiced when Nick Berg was brutally murdered in the most inhuman form possible, by these same vicious terrorist killers who were in Fallujah?

This is my reply to this blatant piece of pro-terrorist propaganda from the insane Old Media:

"The killing of a rabid, suicidal, terrorist killer, who may have taken part in Nick Berg's brutal murder, and who may possibly have had a bomb strapped to his body, by a US marine was greeted by great rejoicing by all patriotic, freedom loving Americans everywhere."
Now then..that is more like it.

By whose standards? Pro-demoncRAT mainstream media who is still crying because the traitor skerry didn't take the WH? In order to deal with murdering islamic terrorists, weakness cannot be exposed. I salute the soldier who took the islamic creep out. The pro-demoncRAT media want the US to appear to be nothing short of p*ssies!

The sad irony is we incorporate media with the military to show the world that we fight within the established rules of warfare and have nothing to hide. However, war is sometimes a choice between an individuals life and/or his/hers comrades life, or a faceless enemy.

Col. Jessep:

"Son, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Whose gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinburg? I have more responsibility here than you could possibly fathom. You weep for terrorists, and you curse the marines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know. That terrorists death, while not tragic, probably saved lives. And that my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives. I know deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you don't want me on that wall, you need me on that wall. We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom I provide, then question the manner in which I provide it. I prefer you said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand to post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to."

A Few Good Men

A little modification, but sums up my feelings about the MSM and the GRRRRR "reporter".

Boycott NBC and their parent company General Electric. I already cancelled the purchase of an $800 GE refrig. GE is also in the financial services business. They are bunch of liberal vermin who will sell America out if it adds a penny to their quarterly earnings per share.

Arabs are angry? What a surprise.

We need to stop acting guilty, and stop apologizing.

We also need to inform the Sunni that we're going to let the Shiites destroy them if they don't start falling into line with us.

He's a terrorist who received his reward. No one is disputing that. Their objection is that before you can shoot a wounded terrorist, you've got to open up the engagement manual and go down the checkoff list to make sure it's legit.

The imbeds are really a pain in the ass anyway, and ought to be banned. This soldier probably did it because he was playing to the camera. He wasn't smart enough to realize that it would be used against him. My guess is that the terrorist was already dead.

According to Forbes, General Electric ranks 2nd among the top 100 companies. General Electric in case you didn't know, owns NBC and MSNBC. NBC is part of the MSM network of who wants to unsit President George Bush. On General Electric's website the Chairman of The Board and Chief Executive officer has the following statement

The "Spirit & The Letter" is the GE integrity policy, and each  GE employee
signs a pledge to adhere to it when they join the company.

Jeffrey R. Immelt, 48, is Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of GE. Mr. Immelt, the 9th Chairman in GE's 126-year history, was appointed to this post on September 7, 2001

Chairman & CEO Jeff Immelt's Message to Employees:

As GE learns and grows in the 21st century, three traditions of our company become more important. Along with commitment to performance and thirst for change, we must always display total, unyielding integrity.

This is a company of integrity. It's a company of standards. Our worldwide reputation for honest and reliable business conduct, built by so many people over so many years, is tested and proven in each business transaction we make.

Today's GE is far more dynamic, globally directed and customer-driven than ever before. We are playing offense - trying new things to build our business success - our quality products and services; our forthright relations with customers, suppliers and each other; and, ultimately, our winning competitive record. But the GE quest for competitive excellence begins and ends with our commitment to lawful and ethical conduct. As a global company, we must create and follow a set of global rules.

Each person in the GE community makes a personal commitment to follow our Code of Conduct. Guiding us in upholding our ethical commitment is a set of GE policies on key integrity issues. All GE employees must comply not only with the letter of these policies but also their spirit.

I, and all GE leaders, have the additional responsibility of nurturing a culture in which compliance with GE policy and applicable law is at the very core of our business activities. It is, and must be, the way we work.

The stakes are high in today's business environment, and, especially while skepticism of corporate activities persists, we must meet and surpass requirements and expectations.

We must preserve and strengthen for those who will follow us what has been the GE foundation for success for more than 100 years - the GE commitment to integrity.

Cordially,

Jeffrey R. Immelt
CEO and Chairman of the Board

I'm not quite so charitable as you in my assessment of the MSM and NBC. I think they knew EXACTLY what they were doing and what the response would be. Traitors all.

The new procedure will be to have the embedded media pukes check the wounded for weapons and the dead for boobytraps.
