Amsterdam, Netherlands, Nov. 16 (UPI) -- Slain right wing politician Pim Fortuyn has been voted the greatest Dutchman of all time by television viewers in the Netherlands.

Fortuyn, leader of the right-wing List party, was killed in 2002 by an ANIMAL RIGHTS ACTIVIST five days before the Dutch general elections. Running on an anti-immigration ticket, the party was poised to win enough parliamentary seats to become a significant political force in the country.

Yep, even the Dutch are starting to get it.

Cultures Do Not Mix They Clash!

Multiculturalism is a denial of the simple truth that cultures clash. The proponents of multiculturalism attack this truth by claiming that:

All the different cultures can live like one big happy family as soon as we get rid of the bad people - the racists, sexists, fascists, chauvinists, bigots, red necks etc. They do not utter these words directly because such a plain statement immediately reveals the absurdity of multiculturalism, but this is what they imply by their words and deeds. The flaws of their notion are easy to realise as different cultures have different beliefs that make them incompatible.

Yep, even the Dutch are starting to get it.

I thought this was strange as well, but then I started to think of all of the famous Belgians in history, and well, other than a few guys (mostly monks) who made beer, I could not think of any. No Offense Belgium.

this reminds of those ridiculous polls in the 90's where people voted Clinton as out greatest president. (It was probably the only President's name they knew).

Huygens was Dutch, not Belgian, and Descartes was from France. I will grant you Rembrandt.

Greatest of all time though???

It's like the greatest song or the greatest movie. Recent ones always get extra votes because that's what people remember. I assumed it would be the boy with the thumb. Or the original Van Gogh.

You are right, why did I think we were talking about Belgium? It might be that I have not had enough caffeine.

Which Descartes do you mean?

The French philosopher René Descartes who lived in the Netherlands 1628 - 1649 under the service of Prince Maurice of Nassau.

What???? Oh, like the French really deserve him.

yes Rembrandt definately was

and Fortuyn as greatest dutchman is certainly a knee jerk reaction, but not just against recent islamofascist actions, but also against the socialist state which taxes us to death and then you see politicians waste it on their pet projects, and there's a severe bias against anything conservative and a severe bias towards anything socialist, but I feel my friends, the tide is starting to turn against it. The governmental departments are filled with 60's peace generation hippies, and we're paying the price for it now.

personally, for greatest dutchman I would have picked either Johan de Witt or Johan van Oldenbarneveld, or if it had to be someone still living, our national football (ie soccer) ambassador Johan Cruyff.

French as you said...
the only foreigner that made it into the polls over in the Netherlands was the Jewish girl Anne Frank...
During the show a discussion broke out whether she should be made Dutch citizen post mortem...

Haha,

all time looser Cruyff...
If you are so proud about never loosing, Cruyff should definitely not be your first choice. I would go for van Basten then...at least he won something big!
