I was offshore the whole time, we got lined up for the helo lift, they took in one or two companies ashore, but for some reason the air lift stopped and we had to back up.
So, No, I never heard that story. Did you hear of a crash on one of the ships in March of 81 that happened on our way to Korea?

No, I don't recall about the ship incident. I had been in Iwakuni for 18 months by Team Spirit time and I was sent to Osan to be MAG-15 Liaison for Team Spririt. The guy we lost had spent the night at a local 'establishment' and carbon monoxide got him. I knew him and we had to get him back to Iwakuni, then back to SC. It wasn't fun.
BTW, I sent $nail mail to you yesterday.
