Please help me on this fundraiser

I have been accused of something that I didn't do And I am being sued for it! On December 2, 2000, I held a rally in New Haven in front of then Vice Presidential candidate Joe Lieberman's house, doing what little I could to show support for the newly elected President Bush, and to show my frustration at the Democrats in their attempts to overturn the genuinely won election by George W. Bush. At the end of the rally, Former Ct State Senator Tom Scott was speaking on the back of my truck, when all of a sudden the lead Democrat supporter of the counter rally held at the same location, started to approach my truck, then turned and took 3 or 4 running steps and jumped on the bed of my truck in a manner that I thought he was going to attack someone on the truck: either me or Tom. I stepped to his side and held out my arm to stop him as he ran into my arm and immediately stopped his forward motion. I kept my hand held out in front of him to prevent him from going forward on the truck bed and get closer to Tom who was speaking at the time. After 3 seconds or so, the man who jumped on my truck immediately turned and jumped down off the truck into the arms of the Police who quickly escorted him away from my truck. The whole incident lasted no more than 5 seconds it seems. Tom and I decided to not press charges for assault or trespass on my truck, and let him go. 9 months later, the man filed suit against me for assault. I am not joking. 9 months later. He claims I grabbed his throat. Look at the picture. This picture was taken December 2, 2000. That is the man who claims I was grabbing his throat. My hand is on his chest, not his throat. My hand was NEVER on his throat, nor was it ever near his throat!

Why I made this website Because of the lawsuit, I am forced to endure thousands of dollars of debt that I cannot afford. I have been employed only in temporary positions since 2001 when telecom collapsed, and am deep in debt. This man is trying to use the legal system to get tens of thousands of dollars from me that does not belong to him, and he is doing it by claiming I assaulted him, which I did not do at all.

CAN YOU PLEASE HELP?? I am forced to ask, but can you consider donating to help me pay my legal fees? Because of this false charge against me, I am now over $8000 in debt to my lawyer, and we cannot continue until I can pay my bill! Could you please send me $5 or $10 or $20 to help my legal fees? For those of you who don't know Race Bannon, let me tell you about a couple of incidents about him:

He was a lone Freeper in Hartford, CT one night -- who stood against a hostile crowd. That was the first time I had heard of Race -- but not the last.

Another time was at a Hillary Freep in NY State.It was a hot, sticky day, and Race showed up, sweating, and with his tie askew. He was carrying a pile of big signs, and had parked quite a distance away and had to walk a bit to get to us. He apologized for being late and said he had attended church and couldn't leave. When I mentioned that it was too bad that he had to walk so far from his car, he said "I'm a Marine. I do what I have to do.!" (OWTTE)

Race is a big guy, and people try to set him up --- (as this guy in the case has). At a Hillary book-signing in NJ, when Race had his arm in a sling from surgery, some guy came up real close to him, but Race quickly stepped back ---knowing that the man could say that Race had touched him - and then yelling assault. Race is pretty saavy about such things. He knows the protocol.That is why this counter-protester is waaaaay off.

I'm sure many have their Race Bannon stories. This is a pretty special person. I hope this thread will spread and help him out of this jam.

I certainly hope your attorney has cross-complained against this guy. I've been where you are in my position as owner of several small businesses. It was one attempt at legally sanctioned extortion after another, often with the Government acting as the instigator and financial supporter of the Plaintiff (a la EEO type fabrications).

Nothing will change until the legal system is reformed, permitting recapture of actual expenses and punitive damages against those who engage in frivolous, meritless lawsuits. As it stands now, the initiator of a lawsuit has nothing to lose and may gain a quick settlement simply by finding an attorney who can assist in filing the action or, if he can't, going to the nearest Gov't office where he will find all the support he needs irrespective of the merits.

See if you can find out if this guy is really going to follow through with a lawyer. He's obviously a lottery hopeful sue-nut. Once a neighbor of mine was slapped with charges for "hitting" another neighbor, who is a shrew. I talked to the shrew in a friendly discussion to feel out whether she was really going to follow through and show up at the court date. I determined that she wasn't going to follow through because it was a total lie and she knew it. Still, the neighbor charged had to hire a lawyer and that cost him. Sure enough, the shrew didn't show up to court and that was that. I told the charged neighbor to sue her, but he just wanted to drop the whole thing.

Has your lawyer filed a counter-suit for harrassing you with a frivilous lawsuit (whatever the technical term is)? Has this guy kept up with papers or whatever? When is the court hearing?

You have witnesses to testify on your behalf. Does the nut? What kind of insurance company does he think you have that will settle with him (which is what all nuts want)?
