US MARINE EXECUTES SHOT MAN
The Sunday Mirror (UK) ^ | Nov 14 2004 | Paul Gilfeather, Political Editor

Posted on 11/14/2004 6:29:14 PM PST by Buckeye Battle Cry

A US marine has sparked world-wide revulsion after being seen shooting an injured and helpless Iraqi.

The sickening scene was broadcast by Channel 4 News after a fire-fight in the rebel stronghold of Fallujah.

The trigger-happy soldier had been asked to get nearer to the injured man.

But instead of trying to capture him, the marine is seen leaning over a wall and cold-bloodedly shooting him.

He then turns to his colleagues and says: "He's gone". Coalition chiefs were last night under pressure to investigate the incident

A US marine has sparked world-wide revulsion after being seen shooting an injured and helpless Iraqi.

Did he have his hands up? Did he still have control of his weapon? If his hands were down and anywhere near a weapon it doesn't matter if he was injured or not.

OH< THE HORROR OF IT ALL!!!!!!
---Imagine, the feckless desperation of a "journalist"
writing for a "legitimate" periodical, writing about
such an event IN THE MIDDLE OF A WAR, and reporting it
as if it were such an anomaly, SO questionable, horrible,
and irregular, that it will or should bring about an INVESTIGATION!! We can well imagine what the journalist's agenda is, but is he making a case that this behavior by an American soldier is "par for the course" or the equivalent of the My Lai massacre in Vietnam, (or for that matter, the kinds of atrocities detailed by John Kerry in 1971). Journalists like this one seem too confused by half, yet we can always identify their motives.

Accusing a soldier of murder during battle is like handing out speeding tickets at the indy 500

Exactly. I think the whole thing stinks. He's gone means he's not there anymore. The shot was to cover himself poking his head between the buildings. This one screams to be exposed.

I wonder how many people can actually believe this "injured and helpless Iraqi" BS! He was a stinking terrorist...he would have taken any opportunity to shoot, stab, blowup or behead that Marine. I say God Bless our troops and keep up the good work!!!

Note that the writer of the article assumes the wounded terrorist is Iraqi.

In any case, he was probably not in uniform, so is not entitled to any protection. I would have shot him myself, if there was the slightest likelihood that giving him aid would have been risky. He might have had buddies around, or he might have been booby-trapped.

What is that paper complaining about? The terrorists want martyrdom: this vermin got his.

I haven't read all the posts here but I saw this as part of a long raw footage video on tv.reuters.com

They were trying to kill a sniper that had them pinned down. In the video you could see the Marine lean over a wall and shoot and then say "he's gone".

You could NOT see the Iraqi (at least I didn't...my monitor is failing)

"I don't see anything in it remotely like this hysterical journalist's story."

No kidding. Maybe the guy just popped off a shot for the heck of it. He didn`t even look like he was aiming ! At least to me. If this is the video they are screaming about, their claims are completely bogus.

Has anyone seen a similar comment by the press about the still unidentified blonde Western woman who had her throat slashed, her arms and legs cut off and had been disemboweled?

Nope. And you won't find it in the HAF (Hate America First) media.

Unless they have been in similiar situations . . . . . . . Many was the time in Vietnam when bodies were boobie trapped with frags. Roll them over to see if they were alive or dead and "BANG" you are DEAD. This Marine was a smart one and is now a live one. If the brass have any sense of gonads they will simply tell him not to do this with cameras around. Better yet, get the reporters off the battlefield one way or another.

If we fight with sensitivity, we will win the peace.

Whatever that kind of thinking means totally escapes me. Is that Hippie talk or something? Does one have to pretend it's deep?

I say, let's win the war, and peace will come afterward.

Here is another link to the video. It's nothing like described in the leftist Guardian news article

Then how are you so sure that it is the same incident?

Find the cameraman who telecast this and make sure he/she is never allowed near our troops again. Also make sure that every single American soldier knows their face and that nobody EVER goes out of their way to protect this A$$hole.

The problem in a situation like this is that you are risking your life :

a) Rescuing the enemy combatant because it's a potential death trap for enemy snipers.
b) The insurgent may have a dynamite vest. So you can't leave him there alive in case he tries to blow himself up when another unit passes by.

I doubt there has been 'world-wide revulsion' since I have not heard about this anywhere but this British rag.

Here is another one, it might be this one. http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article5365.htm

That video is from Oct 2003 a full year ago. If only one mistake is made in over a year of fighting in Iraq -- you have to claim that is an incredible success story and a testament to the courage and bravery of our troops.
