International Calling Cards.......

Puts families in contact ...best gift for all of our military deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan.......nothing quite like the gift of a child, wife ,husband, mother , father or sweethearts being able to hear from a loved one for 10 or 20 minutes.

That's what I gave this year......

This is a very sincere post to my fellow FReepers. As some of you know, I post from Seoul, Korea and work as a civilian at Yongsan Army Garrison. Due to my "Rotund" physique, I often get tagged with playing Santa during the holidays.
I make this offer to FReepers that want to donate a phone card to a soldier on the DMZ here in Korea:
Send me a private reply expressing your desire to do so. If I receive commitment for enough cards, I will provide my APO address for these folks to send the cards. I will then make the 1 1/2 hour trip up to the DMZ, put on my Santa suit and make sure that each and every card is delivered to an unaccompanied soldier on the DMZ.

I'll be waiting to hear.
For what it's worth, the cards are much cheaper to buy here and the soldiers do not have access to 800 numbers, so we might have to get creative here.
PS. I'm not in this to make so much as ONE cent and will pay my and my wife's own way to the DMZ.
Ray in Seoul, Korea

Here is a possibility. Brian Suits is a Lieutenant in the US Army Reserve on his second tour in Iraq and a talkshow host on KVI radio in Seattle. 570KVI.com.....go to "events"

He is asking for "Boots" - for the Iraqi kids because they have only sandals that are lousy in the mud of the Iraqi winter.

He has been sending regular reports on the situation in Iraq - they are upbeat and detail progress being made. I plan to get a package together with several pair of boots and socks. You may find it a good cause also.

KVI Boots for Suits

As many of you heard, Lt. Bryan Suits wants to collect boots and warm socks to hand out to the Iraqi kids. Most of them are still wearing sandals although the weather has grown colder and it rains a lot.

If you would like to help out Bryan, you can by sending him children's -sized rubber rain boots and wool socks. Packages can be mailed directly to Bryan at:
Lieutenant Bryan Suits C CO, TF161INF
3BCT, 1CavDiv
APO AE 09348

Thanks for supporting Boots for Suits!

First off - don't begrudge the posts that said - don't short your kids - when I first read it - it sounded like screw my babies and my Ex - I'll give to the troops - that being said FReepmail PatriciaRuth - she's in contact with a number of units over there, know what they want and you cannot believe the amount of stuff she's gotten over there! She's the real deal - I've seen the results.
Ping for Patty! ;-)

Nice site! Good luck with that!

Learner: How about a donation to the Disabled American Veterans? I've been supporting them for a long time now, and they are on the up & up. Sadly, many of the troops that will be returning to us will be disabled in some way.

We've stopped "gifting" within our extended family, too. We pool our money and do something similar. Between all of us, it's usually $500 or more to donate somewhere.

Any packages should be sent via USPS "Priority Mail". They should get there in two to three weeks.
