I tried to think of a witty response but all the good ones were taken. Actually I know the operation pretty well and own a neighboring plant just down the road. Know the Dimeling Schreiber and Park guys too. They are specialists in buying and restoring bankrupt companies. Guess this one didn't work out, although there was no evidence of it until very recently.

The Wilkes Barre, Scranton area is an old union Democratic territory, but only now in certain counties. Luzerne, where Mountain Top is, went only narrowly to Kerry, 69,000 to Bush's 65,000. The 69,000 for Kerry was only 58% of the registered Democrats, one of the lowest ratios in the State. Lots of hunters up there.

The economy in NE Pa. is a diverse mix of old and new industry. Coal went long ago and now the second wave of industry brought in 30-40 years ago with tax subsidies, is starting to roll over.

The work force is still old school though. Not many drugs, very low absenteeism, easily trained. It's a good place to have a facility. Don't try operating on the first day of male deer season though.

Tabu? English Leather? Does anyone actually still buy this stuff?

Gee, I wonder why AP said nothing about why the company was re-locating. Usually companies have a reason for doing that, such as oppressive blue state taxes and regs. Or unions driving them to non-profitability.

Tabu has been around since I was a teenager. It was a 'big girl' smell that all the girls wanted to wear.

Thank you.

As I recall, in November of '64 there was a rumor going around that English Leather would be removed from store shelves before Christmas because it had been proven to be a sexual stimulant.

There was none available to purchase at Christmas, but not because it had been 'removed' from the shelves,, it had all been purchased. There was quite a demand for the stuff.

I remember Chantilly and Ambush too. But there was one that still brings back horrible memories. I had a teacher who was mean and nasty. I really think she hated us kids. She wore Evening in Paris and poured it on. The thought of that smell still repulses me.

Here's a slightly used Mexican bottle of Farrah Fawcett Shampoo that rolled off the line in the late 70s. It's only $30, LOL!

The Vermont Country Store still sells many of these fragrances, and others which we no longer find on the shelves.

People allergic to perfume will be so happy.

I didn't know that there was that many of us (certain perfumes have the same effect as a brillo pad on my lungs)

Tabu was one of the few perfumes I could tolerate.
[some have a *lot* of formaldehyde and floral essences in them that make my head ache]
Years ago I got some "Ambergris" essence at a health food store.
Theoretically, women hate the smell but men can't resist it.
I wore it 3 times and all 3 times my hubby and his buddies went berserk and got into bar fights.
[must be some kinda weird "male pheromone/dogfight" catalyst or something so I stopped wearing it]...LOL!

*Most* perfumes give me something I assume is similar to a migraine.
Severe headache, nausea, etc.
I have to dart through department stores to avoid the women who just love to hose themselves down with the tester bottles....:(

Second boyfriend wore Halston Z-14

Only thing I wear.

It is amazing how we can grow attached to a particular scent. Have not found anything else that I would want to wear.

Keep wearing it. It's a killer. I get all swoonie when I catch a whiff of it.

I've been stuck on Estee Lauder Private Collection for many years.

I love perfume, I wear it everyday but I mist my neck ONE time and that's all I do. I despise sitting next to someone who smells like she put her perfume on with a fire hose. Too much of a good thing and all that...
