That's what I've heard on Fox. I think some of the 1st group do a check and there is a group behind them that does more of a full search. I belive that's how they found some of the cilvians and hostages.

As Creighten Abrams said, "If you grab'um by the short hairs
their hearts and minds will follow.

"In Vietnam we often dumped enemy body parts in the streets of the nearest village. Our assumption was that many of the VC were locals. So, we just drove in, dumped all the heads and hands and legs and shoes right in the middle if the road at the busiest part of the Vil. Then we drove away. I guess it wasn't, "Winning Hearts and Minds", but it sure showed them what they were in for if they joined their brothers in the fight."
Well, not to question those tactics, but imagine for a moment the possibility of such a conflict taking place in your hometown, here in the US. If your enemy drove into your town and dumped body parts from your friends and relatives into the town square, would it shake you into inaction or harden your resolve?

It's very stirring and comforting to hear Allawi's courage and determination voiced in his statementa;
"Allawi, a Shiite Muslim, brushed aside suggestions the operation would create a backlash among the country's Sunni minority. 'There is no problem of Sunnis or Shiites," he said. "This is all Iraqis against the terrorists. We are going to keep on breaking their back everywhere in Iraq. We are not going to allow them to win.'"

Oh, you bet..I know that our actions provoked a response and renewed resolve. I knew (at age 19) that we were fighting a lost cause. 500,000 Americans in a country the size of California...many thinking that we were there to help South Vietnam win a civil war. The truth was, it was a revolutionary war. But our side fought hard though. As hard as they are fighting today in Falluja. I never saw an American not give his all.

Can a terrorist just stay quiet and stay indoors till our troops eventually leave?
This is the end of phase 1. Phase 2 is going house to house to be sure all the terrorists are gone and people are safe and getting what they need to survive. Phase 3 is rebuilding the town...

True.

We're way too diplomatic. And our troops die as a result.
To: TedReed
Isn't it appropriate to refer to Marines as soldiers?

Good work! Sadly, it now appears that the terrorist leadership has fled to Mosul or Ramadi. Naturally, Zarqawi probably put on a Burqha to get out of town. Never let the media dictate the mood of our people (according to the AP, we're toast over there, and they are obviously wrong).
