'Air cover is being flown by pilots from the USS John F. Kennedy, as well as the U.S. Air Force from bases in the area.'
I'm guessing the Corps in flying in support as well! But I know what you mean.
I tell ya....when you stop and think about what these young troops are doing over there - and for how little some are getting paid to do it - it makes all the little petty, dip$h!t issues we find so troubling pale in comparison...doesn't it?
Here I sit - an old Soldier already with one combat tour under my belt - working in the Pentagon making twice what these young troops make....and I feel guilty as hell. I am trying my best to get back to Iraq. I feel so out-of-place.
I find it incomprehensible that we have people with so little character and moral fiber in this country who criticize our brave troops who are sacrificing everything to make sure all Americans can live free of worry about lying down in their comfortable beds at night.
When I read some of the postings from DU earlier this week from those pathetic, worthless, sad excuses for human beings - wishing harm on our troops for our actions in Iraq - it made me so much more than angry. It enraged me so much that I was near tears - and I just don't cry - ever.
How can people live with such smallness and ignorance in their hearts and minds. They are without a soul - that's all I can figure.
I wish they could all feel the hardship of battle. I wish they could feel the pain they cause cast back into their small, empty hearts.
It's times like this that I wish I was still there.
The squids and zoomies are doing a satisfactory job flying CAP while those Marine Hornet and Harrier pilots are dropping JDAMs, LGBs, Mavericks, etc. and Marine Prowler crews are keeping tabs via TERPES on the ragheads.
I find something very interesting about the pictures of armored vehicles in Falluja. I have yet to see a single picture of the Stryker.
Got back from Taji, Iraq in August after six months training the Iraqi Army. As I sit in my robe and slippers, working from home, I feel guilty looking at these pictures. God bless our fighting men.
We never hear from reporters how stinky it must be over there...I have been to the Mid East in peacetime and it is really smelly, I cannot imagine how stinky it is with all that BO and dead bodies to boot!
oh how I wish they had MOABed F-Town SIX MONTHS AGO, at the moment we got videos of US contractors barbuequed, mutilated and left hanging from F-Town's main bridge.
Hey, I'm for the troops all the way, but this is so late and too costly for my liking. our boys are way to precious for this crap.
WOW! Awesome.
WE DON'T TAKE OIL
WE DON'T TAKE SOIL
WE GIVE FREEDOM AND LIBERTY

SEMPER FI
GOD BLESS AMERICA
Man those guys are really ladden down with gear
Get some, Marines!! I'm so proud of what our soldiers and their Iraqi Army counterparts are doing in Fallujah. The good people who live there will be able to return to a town where they don't have to worry about foreign thugs killing at random.
Dynamic-entry bump!
A most outstanding thread!!!! Thank you for putting this together.
God Bless our brave Troops. And God, please do what you can to help our brothers and sisters...... and get them home, and back to their loved ones.
This is a great tribute to our brave soldiers! They deserve our support and prayers!
BTW - I just heard a great idea:
Why not have an American 24hr. cable channel report on the triumphs of the Iraq and Afganistan war. The MSM is stuck on only exposing bad news, and highlighting the poor morale of a handful of soldiers...as if they represent the entire force. It would be fair to the mission and the soldiers if we shared the other (positive) side.
Sound good or what?
God Bless and Protect our Military,
no matter where they are stationed
or job description.
Father, I lift up the brave men and women to You.
Guide our support personnel, that they may make the right calls and put out the right information to these men on the ground;
Be with our troops in harms way, that they will feel You fighting with them and for them;
Shield the wounded with Your Hand, that they may be comforted;
Gather the dead in Your Arms, and gently carry them Home.
In Jesus name I pray it...
