An interesting debate is being conducted in some circles in Israel as to precisely how happy one should be at Arafat's demise.
One Biblical verse that has often been quoted of late is, "When the wicked perish, there is jubilation" (Proverb 11,10). A statement by the Tekumah party - a faction of the National Union - notes that the Talmud cites this verse in response to witnesses who fear that their testimony might help put someone to death. The judges tell them, "You will not be liable for this blood; it is rather a merit for you, to purify the world from evil and to add light and joy, as is written, 'When the wicked perish, there is jubilation.'"
the day of Arafat's death is one of "happiness and rejoicing for the Nation of Israel." The organization published a call to make the day one of celebration, and stated, "We wish to uproot the mistake of those who mock those who are happy on this day as 'right-wing extremists," as those who do so, deviate gravely from the natural instincts and feelings of our people, who hate the enemies of the Jews and are happy at their downfall. 'So may all Your enemies fall, O G-d!'"

"Should we celebrate now that Ara-FAT is dead?)"
Yes.
I've been struggling with this question for a week. I guess I hope in my heart he made a sincere repentence before it was too late, but I doubt that he did.
"He who rejoices in the calamity of others will not get his prayers answered."
A public celebration of joy would be unseemly. Be not like unto the Palestinians! However expressing satisfaction that this little demon has finally left the stage is wholly appropriate.
the grandfather of terrorism....
A murderous tyrant has departed the world, assumed room temperature, I would say 'joined the choir invisible' but there's literally no chance in Hell of that happening, will immediately proceed to rot, is on his way to the throne of the Almighty to be judged for his foul deeds here on Earth, and his passing will no doubt sow confusion amongst the ranks of would be homicide bombers.
From where I sit, there's no reason not to pull the tab on a cool one, pop the cork from a bottle, say a prayer of Thanksgiving, and just plain jump up and down while whooping and hollering.
Wow, what a week it's been. Bush is reelected by damn near 6 million votes, Clarence Thomas may well be the next Chief Justice of SCOTUS, and Yasser Arafat becomes food for whatever worm lives in Ramalla.
It just doesn't get much better than that.

Yes, it's a good thing that murderous, terrorist piece of human debris has left this life. While we can all hope for (but not expect) a last minute conversion he needs to be gone fro this world. Perhaps the chances of peace got just a tiny bit better.
The question however is whether or not to cheer? Then probably not. How about a siigh of relief?

November is turning out to be a very bad month for Democrats. First Bush is re-elected, then USA wipes out the terror strong hold of fallujah, and now this? Libbies must be crying their hearts out. They took Bush's re-election harder than they took 9/11.
Sure! And be just as wicked as the sub-humans who celebrated our losses of victims? What exactly is worth celebrating? The certain calumny to come?
He who rejoices in the calamity of others will not get his prayers answered."
Since when is giving thanks for justice delayed "rejoicing in the calamity of others"?
I am quietly feeling a lot of satisfaction tonight. No public celebration necessary.
While I certainly won't lose any sleep over the final demise of this mass murderer -- I find it very unbecoming to celebrate the death of any person. Somewhere someone is in mourning and they deserve our prayers and condolences, no matter how evil the dead person may have been.
"What is SHE celebrating"
9-11 and the murder of 2818 unarmed, defenseless Americans Civilians by Islamic Terrorists.
Well .. I don't know about you .. but spending eternity in HELL would qualify as a "calamity" in my book. But .. suit yourself.
I believe a huge sign of relief is more than appropriate.
Whether Arafat's death will finally afford the Palestinian people the opportunity to have a decent life .. I guess time will tell.
